You would think that trying to manage his recent trauma, a break-up and reunification with Prince Eris, and the Guardian Sebastien trying to kill him, becoming a Prince would be easy.
That would be a ‘no’.
Yes, he and Eris were now equal, which made their relationship easier. But River isn’t used to being served by others and has difficulty adjusting to what being a Prince means on Drakonis.
And there’s still Sebastien to deal with.
Another assignment turns into a confrontation with a new Guardian, and the terror facing him brings, along with Amity wishing him gone.
Will River finally be rid of Sebastien?
Can Amity accept him as their Prince?

This book picked up exactly where book two ended with King Rohas revealing that he could make River a prince since he turned down Prince Eris’ offer to be his consort. As a consort River would be nothing more than a servant and as a prince, he and Eris would hold the same rank. Of course, River accepted and when told Eris was delighted.
Trouble is brewing in Amity, due to River becoming a prince, typical of humans with no appreciation for the man who saved them and gave them a new lease on life. Fortunately, the complainers are the minority, so River feels somewhat satisfied. While on Amity, River visits his therapist for help with his panic attacks and his nightmares.
Guardian Sebastion, keeps sending River on missions, always putting him in danger. River has no doubt that Sebastion wants him dead and holds his parents lives over his head. Ben’s parents are still in hiding and River has no idea what kind of treatment his family is suffering. Now as Prince of Quros he assures the humans living there that he will not take control of their lives and is always available if they need him.
Each mission River goes on he gains supporters for the time when they take over the Guardians. Unfortunately, each mission is filled with danger in addition to missing Eris. Now that River is a prince, he and Eris have become reunited, and their love just grows stronger.
When River moves into the castle he asks his adopted parents, Taikos and Caillia to join him there which they readily agree to. River’s only complaint is having everyone bow to him, but he must accept the fact he is now royalty.
His last mission is to a planet with wolflike aliens who don’t welcome outsiders. Sebastian made a mistake sending him because it will bring about changes River could never have expected. The planet has their own Guardian and won’t deal with any other. Their Guardian is Alexander who wonders why River was sent and what the Guardian from Earth expected to find.
Alexander is unlike any other Guardian, River has dealt with and expects to be treated as badly as Sebastian treated him, but it turns out that judging one Guardian against another proves to be a mistake.
So much changes after meeting Alexander but I won’t reveal any of them. As with the first two books which I highly recommend reading first there is so much to learn about how River met Prince Eris and how a human and a Drako fell in love and why the King was ready to make River a Prince.
All his missions and treatment by Sebastian have left River in a constant state of panic and as much as he tries to overcome it, it is difficult to control. Reading about how Eris tries to help his lover and how River tries to accept his promise to allow Sebastian to control his life make for great reading.
I love this series and am unsure if book three was the last book or if there will be more to come, either way I am sure C.J. Dragon will have another amazing series ready to go.
