Owen Hart’s wits—and his supernatural ability to read others’ emotions—give him an edge at the poker table, but his luck runs out when he gets hauled in to explain his suspicious success to the owner of Spades Casino. Or does it?

Leo Ellis is a successful businessman and criminal who launders money for other mobsters. Owen fascinates him. Sensing there is more to the man than meets the eye, Leo offers him a job as a waiter/sex-optional escort and moves Owen in.

But things get complicated when Leo’s fascination deepens into something else, and then even more so when they fall into bed together.

Having dealt with years of drama and secrecy, Owen feels vulnerable opening up to Leo. The whirlwind romance also puts Leo into a position that he never anticipated. Their emotions are tested further when Leo's most dangerous rival kidnaps Owen to use as a bargaining chip. Will Leo and his men be able to rescue him and keep him safe? Will Leo's second-in-command ever get enough of Owen's cupcakes? With any luck, love may be in the cards at Spades.

Cam, Syn and Nathen’s story continues after another successful mission. Kat was rescued and everything was going well until HR from Impetus called with an offer for Cam. He wants him to be the new Junior Director of Threat Management with a two-year contract.
To ensure Cam accepts he reveals that his mother is alive and will tell him everything once the contract is signed.

After signing the contract Cam is shown videos of his mother alive and well. She has not contacted him in over ten years since he saw her murdered by arachnoid fae. He immediately called her and was told to stay away because it was too dangerous, but her plea fell on deaf ears. He couldn’t stay away if his life depended on it.

Finally getting to hug his mother after so long he realized that Syn was also grieving all those years because his mother was her mother as well in her heart. When it is revealed what the danger is and how his mother survived all their lives would be turned upside down. She was saved by Elemental fae and she promised to help them in their war against the arachnoid fae. She didn’t want Cam to be involved for fear of him getting hurt or dying but he assures her that he, Syn and Nathen are there to help anyway they can.

Every time a cluster of them are killed more just show up and there is no way to get ahead of them. Cam suggests that killing the queen would stop them and now it was time to research and lay out a plan. While doing that Cam makes love to Nathen on the balcony ensuring that they are not viewed by anyone, but they were.

After making love another vampire shows up having seen the pornographic exhibition Cam and Nathen put on and before you know it, they are all together in bed. August has been a vampire for hundreds of years and now lives in a coven with his lover, mentor and creator. Since meeting Cam and Nathen, he realizes it is time for him to move on from the coven and is ready, willing and able to help destroy the arachnoid fae.

So much happens to all of them but I will only touch on a little of it. Cam, Nathen and August meet the fae who are thankful for their help in stopping the Arachnoids. Dealing with the fae is without question, interesting and suspect but Nathen feels at home and Cam won’t leave him. August just willingly accepts what the fae offers and the three of them face major changes in their lives.

Secrets, surprises, explicit sex, violence, rape and much more but the book ends in a cliffhanger and so many questions are unanswered so hopefully it won’t be a long wait for book 4.
