For five years with her magic book in hand Cynthia Fields has been searching for the witch of chaos and the witch of fire. Cynthia is an air witch and is determined to solve the mystery of the Coven Daughters Prophecy. She has been hitchhiking her way to Los Angeles where she believes she will be successful in finding the other two witches. When she finds a ride with a female truck driver she is surprised when she learns that the woman could jump into other bodies, in fact the real truck driver is inside her and she asks that Cynthia get in touch with her whenever she gets information leading to cracking the code of the legacy.
After being dropped off at a truck stop diner she sees a man that gets her juices flowing, she has a milkshake sent to him and when he thanks her, she tells him to meet her in the ladies room. After exchanging names Raven walks, her out to her car, which he discovers she doesn’t have and that she is hitchhiking, and he gives her the keys to his motorcycle shifts into a bird and flies off. So far, her tr has been very interesting.
Then what was interesting becomes bizarre when Raven and his three friends from the diner are in the motel room next door to her. They have a deck of cards which Raven is convinced is the key to solving the prophecy and they need Cynthia as a guide. They need a witch, and she has been chosen. Raven and his friends are all shifters seeking others like themselves and Cynthia holds the secret to where they are. She won’t betray them and is concerned that Raven and his buddies will desert her.
Cynthia has amazing magic if she needs money, she just performs a money spell which is what she does for the man behind the counter at the motel. She calls on the magic-giver and is informed that she has taken and taken, and it is time to pay up. When an entity Folly informs Cynthia that payment will be paid in blood, she is left wondering if she will be adding another death to the two, she already killed. Who would it be since she has become attached to Raven even after insisting that having sex would not lead to a relationship.
There is so much going on in this book, so much magic, surprises and secrets. I cannot imagine anyone with a love of magic not loving this book and series. The characters are amazing, and Cynthia and Raven have secrets from their pasts, all of which are revealed. There isn’t a cliffhanger but there is more to come.
