The fifth installment of the Storm series is filled with steamy and well orchestrated erotic scenes, but the author manages to fit an interesting plot in between those scenes. Jagorach has captured Kleora’s soul with the hope that he can find a way to restore her life. Jagorach’s quest to restore Kleora’s soul reintroduces characters from earlier books in the series and showcases Jagorach’s inclination to be protective of members of his inner circle. Kleora, ruler of the land nymphs, isn’t interested in being protected though. She is determined to find a way to take care of the people she left behind when she died. Jagorach appreciates Kleora’s fiery spirit, but his domineering nature compels him to find ways to keep Kleora contained.
Jagorach and Kleora’s interactions are forged from the concept of reluctant fated mates. The steamy scenes between them highlight the power struggle between their dominant natures. Kleora is built as a strong confident female, and throughout the story, her character often feels like a tool the author uses to connect the reader to Jagorach. The back and forth conflict between the two main characters drags the reader from the dark despair of Hell , all the way up to a Sheriff’s office in North Dakota, and back down to Jagorach’s homebase in Arizona. There is no shortage of graphic and disturbing imagery that highlights exactly what realm Jagorach is in charge of.
Although this was the fifth book in the series, the author included just enough information from previous volumes to keep a reader new to the series. This was an interesting read with a few unexpected plot twists and turns. The teasers scattered throughout the book will also entice a reader to hunt down previous books in the series and wait impatiently for the next installment.
I would recommend this story for anyone looking for a paranormal romance/erotica story that includes BDSM and some fascinating blends of different mythologies.
