The one woman this lone wolf can't resist...
New Yorker Lena Castamolino has trouble. Big trouble. Every time the full moon shines, her body tries to turn into a wild beast, and she has no idea why. Her skin goes all leathery, and her shoulders begin the agonizing transformation into wings. Wings! Could it have to do with her recent move to Rome — a magical city that called to her for years? Or does the answer lie in the father who abandoned her at birth? Either way, she needs help, because all the grit and determination in the world can’t stop the moon — or the evil forces hot on her trail.
Eternal City? Eternal banishment is more like it for members of the despised Monseratti clan. But wolf shifter Sergio Monseratti has been granted one last chance to return to the city he loves, and he’s not about to blow it. “All” he has to do is bring down a ruthless mafia boss, and he can’t afford any distractions now. And he absolutely, positively cannot fall in love with the mysterious woman who could be the key to saving the city, no matter how high the passion between them builds.
Dazzling starlets, billionaire playboys, vengeful enemies, power-hungry dragons, secret heirs… It’s impossible to know who to trust, but one thing is for sure — destiny is on the move, and Rome is its stage.
Anna Lowe’s FIRE MAIDENS: Billionaires & Bodyguards series
Danger lurks over Europe, where a ruthless dragon clan plots to seize power in the grandest, most glamorous cities. The guardians of old have summoned a new generation of shifter heroes to protect the castles, cathedrals, and cobblestoned streets of their ancestral homes — and to seek out the last of the Fire Maidens, women coveted by the dark lords for their royal blood. Those women are absolutely off-limits to the young warriors tasked with protecting them. But destiny, of course, has other ideas…

When Lena Castamolino was terminated from her job due to cutbacks she finally decided to move to Rome, the place she always dreamed about. Unfortunately, not long after arriving her life took a scary turn when during a full moon she began to turn into a beast with wings. During one of her partial shifts she came face to face with another shifter, Sergio Monseratti, a wolf. She wasn’t afraid of him because his encouraging words made her feel safe.
Sergio comes from one of the largest mafia families, he killed his uncle who was constantly trying to force him to join the family and rule alongside him, but Sergio fought the temptation and like his family he was banned from Rome. Over time the family fell apart, but it was only when another criminal mastermind came to the forefront that the Guardians of Rome brought him back home to infiltrate Vicente’s clan while the Guardians were fighting to keep the Lombardis, a ruthless dragon clan from causing chaos.
When Lena takes a job photographing Amber McClosky she once again finds herself face to face with Sergio standing as a bodyguard for a man she sees as evil, Vicente, Amber’s boyfriend. If she didn’t need the money Amber was paying her she would have run, not walked away. Sergio immediately recognizes Lena as his mate and before long the jewel she wears around her neck begins to shine indicating that she is a Fire Maiden. If Vicente discovers who she really is her life would be in danger and Sergio is going to do everything he can to protect her.
Lena is a descendant of a powerful dragon queen and with her help the Guardians will once again have the ability to shape the destiny of the entire city. Lena has a lot to learn, she feels very strongly about Sergio although she has no idea it is the mating call since she has very little knowledge of shifters. She has no idea that the beast trying to come out is a dragon and is her other half, but Sergio has to teach her how to control her other half and how and when to call it forward.
A battle breaks out when both Vicente and the leader of the Lombardis attempt to take Lena unaware of her other nature she watches as Sergio and his friend Marco attempt to fight off the dragons and wolves that outnumber them all to save Lena. It is during this fight that Sergio finds out something about his family that he was unaware of and something very enlightening.
Lena also discovers more about herself, especially why her father abandoned her and her mother after she was born, this was a secret that surprised me in a good way. Another journey through another country filled with secrets, betrayals, romance, and sex. I don’t know about you but it has everything I look for in a paranormal romance and now I am about to visit Portugal and hope it is Marco’s story, a man with no belief in love.
