This was a very short but beautiful story. Two men Florian an under-gardener and Everett a groom are friends and lovers and since it is 1805 their relationship is hidden. When Christmas Eve comes Everett makes Florian promise that he will attend the party that the Lord and Lady are having something he is loath to do.

Florian stays to himself and never goes into the manor unless to grab something to eat. Everett wants him to come out of his shell and knows that making him promise to attend the Christmas Eve party could be the beginning of him socializing.

Something happens to Florian on his way to the party, something sweet and something that could change him. Such a sweet story about a man who fears being around people but learns those people don’t dislike him.
