Presley Dawson has spent the last six years mourning the death of his married lover. Presley fell hook line and sinker for the older man. When he discovered he was married and left to return to his husband, he was devastated. His lover returned a few years later, still married, and with a child. Presley was still madly in love and would have continued their affair had an automobile accident not ended his lover’s life.
The last six years Presley has been as dead in his heart and soul as his lover. His best friend insists he attend a grief support group. He finally agreed after admitting to himself that he couldn’t go on as he was. At the first meeting, he met a man who for the first time in years got his attention. However, but he was not willing to make the same mistake he made years ago.
Nate Sherman has come to the meeting at the urging of his older brother, Ethan, who has seen his brother change into an angry man filled with sadness. Nate’s father died, and the circumstances of his death left him feeling lost and hurt. Nate idolized his father and wanted to be like him—until he died in his lover’s bed. As if being a cheater while his wife suffered with cancer wasn’t enough to make him angry, it was with his mother’s best friend, a woman he loved like an aunt. In fact he called her aunt, so the hurt was just an example for him to never give his trust to anyone.
Nate was also taken with Presley, and they did find themselves in bed but Presley called an immediate halt to any more sex until they got to know each other. Once burned by a man he believed loved him, he was going to be very careful about giving his heart to anyone without knowing that it was more than just sex.
Nate and Presley were the answer to each of their problems, but they hadn’t shared their darkest secrets. Nate’s father’s cheating and Presley admitting that he cheated with a married man was something he knew would send Nate running. They were lost and thought they found what they were looking for when they met. Each needed the other even without sex. Would Presley’s past destroy everything with Nate before it really began?
A beautiful story of two lost men trying to put their pasts behind them and learn to trust. We watch as they take one slow step at a time toward finding love and trust. There is of course a big “BUT” what will happen when Presley reveals his affair with a married man especially when Nate’s father’s cheating broke him?
