Single mom Michele Williams has a ranch in Twin Bluffs, Montana where she teaches horse riding and is also a Champion rodeo barrel racer. Divorced from her abusive husband for five years, now she and her six-year-old daughter Erin have a comfortable and safe life. It was at a horse show that Michele would meet her Prince Charming, Alexander Fedorov, who is a prince.
When Alex sees Michele, he is drawn to her and wants to get to know her and her daughter Erin better. He raises Arabians and his ranch is near Michele’s so when Michele invites him to visit, he is overjoyed. Michele accepts his offer for dinner never expecting that he is the Crown Prince of Batrovia and heir to the throne. Of course, in small-town secrets are very hard to keep and when they enter the restaurant, he is greeted by welcome Your Highness.
As Michele, Alex and Erin grow closer he knows without a doubt that she is the woman he wants to marry only he will one day be a king and she will have a lot of changes to accept including one day leaving her home to live in a different country. In his favor is the fact that Erin has grown to love him and has a father figure which is something her real father has never cared about.
As the three become comfortable with each other and the relationship Alex wants is looking like it will become a reality news from Alex’s mom will turn their lives upside down. Alex’s father has been murdered and it is his uncle who was responsible. Nicolai was born three minutes too late, leaving Alex’s father heir to the throne, something Nicolai has never been able to accept. In addition, he has always wanted his brother’s wife and now he has plans that will make him king and give him the woman he has always desired. His answer is killing everyone.
Michele and Erin join Alex in returning to his home where he is determined to bring his uncle to justice and protect his family. Erin is happy because Alex has a six-year-old brother who welcomes her, Alex’s mother tries to encourage Michele to accept a royal life if and when she and Alex marry but bottom line, she is a cowgirl from Montana, and he is now king.
This was so much more than just a romance, it is a story of murder, heartache and suspense. Can a girl from Montana marry a king and live happily ever after, something I won’t reveal in this review. I will say that if you are a fan of Ms. Woolf like I am then this is a must read.
