I've spent my life watching people drift in and out like the snow.
Once my gaze locks onto Holly, I need to hold her forever.
This beautiful angel of a girl is probably too delicate for this place. Wolfe Mountain can be rough in the winter. Spring-Summer-Fall is for tourists and visiting family. Not when the snow is deep and the winds are wicked.
Yet Holly is determined to make the most of it. She's got sass. A fire in her belly. The "hell yes, I'd love to help" attitude that makes a great mountain woman.
She's already been very clear that she loves my heat for her – I'll always warm my sexy girl against the winter chill, with teasing kisses in the snow. Even though she's skittish about her future plans. Once she finds out I'm the local cop, she's even more edgy.
I have to make her understand she's the only woman for me. The only person I'll voluntarily share my cookies with.
The only person I've ever wanted to clutch to my heart forever.

James is in Holly Valley visiting family for the holiday when he is asked by his cousin to give a friend a lift to his town Old Hemlock Valley. When James sees who he is going to give a ride to he is transfixed by the beauty walking towards him hoping that the ride could lead to more.
Holly has been hired to house sit and like James is equally enamored. Their time together is stress free and does lead to more, which they are both happy about. Although Holly is ten years younger than James for the first time in her life she is drawn to a man and desires what every woman wants from a man she is attracted to.
James is the sheriff in town and finds a job for Holly at the bakery and he spends every minute he can with her. Due to her age, she is twenty-one and the fact that she has a secret about her past she is convinced that the town will not accept her as good enough for their Sheriff. James disagrees and is determined to show her around to everyone.
James and Holly fall in love instantly, but I am a firm believer that knowing someone for a long time does not guarantee a good relationship. How many people live together know each other for years only for the relationship to fall apart. They are perfect for each other and although Holly wants it to last, she is hesitant about James and the town forgiving her for her past even though she is innocent of any wrongdoing.
A beautiful story about love, and what I would call a Christmas miracle. It is a story filled with just love, no suspense, no surprises and only one secret.
