Conner Pierce has always been convinced that finding his true mate was never going to happen so when his true mate turned out to be a human he was shocked to say the least.
Elizabeth Larkin and her twelve year old son, Jeremy are heading to Vermont for the summer. They will be staying at a camp where she spent many years as a child and where she only had good, happy memories, memories she is hoping her son will have. Elizabeth wants to find a connection with her son, a connection she feels she has lost. Jeremy never seems happy and has few friends. He has no interest in sports or any other activity that requires him to be around others.
The camp is near Malsum Pass and that is where she will have to do her shopping, if you have read the first three books in this series then you know that Malsum Pass is the home of werewolves and hunky weres looking for their mates. It is also the home of the Pierce family and it is while at the store that Elizabeth meets Conner. A simple touch and Conner knows immediately that she is his mate. What should be an exciting moment is anything but. Elizabeth is human and he knows that his mother would never accept her, in addition to the fact that Elizabeth would have to accept him both as a man and as a wolf when she finds out.
Conner and Jeremy bond immediately and for the first time in a long time he is happy. Jeremy joins in with Conner and his brothers playing sports, music and loves spending time with them. Unfortunately, as much as Conner is bonding with Jeremy it is the total opposite where Elizabeth is concerned. I loved when Jeremy gave Conner dating advice since he would love nothing more than for his mom and Conner to get together. Conner always dreamed of a beautiful and strong mate but he doubts if Elizabeth would fill the strong part of the equation.
It is Conner who finds out the reason behind Jeremy never wanting to participate in activities and it is Conner that gets him to laugh and enjoy life. Elizabeth feels a connection to Conner but she is hesitant to let herself go. She has not been lucky in the love department, even her marriage didn’t feel real. Right after the wedding her husband was deployed never having seen his son and never returning.
What happens between Conner and Elizabeth is something you will have to find out for yourself and believe me you won’t be sorry. I also recommend reading the first three books if you love sexy shifters. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the book ended but I am hopeful there is more to come because there are still many shifters who have not found their mates and are still looking.
