Ben and his new mate, Leon, left the safety of Alaska so Leon could learn to live with humans and gain more control over his lust for blood. They arrive in Eureka and stay with Ben’s friends Lucas and Brennan, another mated vampire couple. They plan to slowly expose Leon to humans and let him adjust to the constant need that haunts him.

Lucas has always avoided contact with The Twelve. That changes when Brennan is taken by a group of vampires intent on destroying one mate while capturing the other. After waiting several human lifetimes to find his mate, Lucas won’t sit back and lose Brennan. They’re all forced to seek out The Twelve, the ancient vampires who rule over all others.

When they reach the hidden fortress of the Consortium, they soon realize there’s more going on than they ever could have imagined. They’re forced to become the hunters through an unfamiliar landscape where not only are they the predators, but quite possibly the prey. #vampire, #fated mates #Gay paranormal romance

This is book three and the end to an amazing series. Ben, Leon, Lucas and Brennan have a mission ahead of them if they ever want to be free, a mission that kept me glued to the book till all questions were answered and every problem was resolved.

Since leaving the Yukon Ben and Leon have been staying with Lucas and Brennan but Leon has been unable to curb his thirst. Being around humans is impossible for Leon since he is feral and can’t be stopped from wanting to eat from a human if one is around him. Leon and Brennan have become close friends each of them entering the vampire world after suffering torture and near death.

Brennan suggests visiting the docks where at night there are few humans introducing Leon to being around humans in limited numbers. While there they are met with an ancient named Euan Douglas revealing to Ben and Lucas what has been happening with the Consortium. The Twelve are now only two who desire to feed without concern for losing their anonymity.

While talking they are attacked by assassins sent by the Consortium and although they can defeat most of them one escapes with Brennan. It is Leon who chases after the vampire and saves him. Something must be done about the Twelve or they will spend eternity hiding and trying to stay alive. A visit to the Consortium must be made with the hope of destroying it so vampires will no longer be under their control.

They are now separating mates and destroying them, putting a target on Leon and Brennan’s backs, something Lucas and Ben are refusing to allow. Separating mates and using their bond to control them is something that must be stopped at all costs, so Ben, Leon, Brennan, Lucas and Euan are ready to head to Iceland and the Consortium. The hope is to get more vampires to join them, and they are surprised when Joel, the vampire they met while searching for Samuel, and the vampire that helped them is willing to join their group adding one more to their side.

I will not reveal what happens and whether they are successful, but I will say that this is an amazing series and shouldn’t be missed. As they say, all good things must come to an end and that is true of this series.

Betrayal, violence, surprises and secrets are just some of the things that made this book exciting from beginning to end. The characters who started the series are wonderful and the love shared by them all is beautiful.

As sorry as I am that this series has ended, I am just as happy that I was able to read and enjoy each book. Can’t recommend this series highly enough especially for those who love a good vampire book.
