Terra Desmarais’s success as the next big artist in NYC is absolutely inevitable. Her patrons, the associates, Mr. Black, Mr. Silver, and Mr. Green, can practically taste the raw talent dripping from the enigmatic trailer park prodigy’s dollar store paints.
Up and coming pastel artist Cedric Fleck is a lucky discovery of the associates. Rescued from oblivion by Mr Green, put up in a studio by Mr. Silver and paraded around on the arm of Mr. Black should be the dream. But within the steady stream of great press and even better parties, Cedric can’t shake the sense that something is very wrong. He wants to hate Terra for her overnight success, but he’s taken by her earnest love of art.
As the artists around them crash and burn, and Cedric struggles to break free from the toxic seduction of Mr. Black, Terra is only concerned with her strange and compelling paintings. She seems to want nothing of the fame, the money, the sex or the drugs. As greed exposes the true colors of the associates, and Terra is too lost in her art to notice the danger, Cedric discovers that inspiration is a living thing, and it is hungry.

This was a very suspenseful novella that had me from page one to the end.
Three partners Garret Green, art agent, Bernard Black, art critic and Scott Silver financer have found and given success to many artists over the years until they took everything, they had leaving them hollow shells.
When Green finds a new artist, whose work leaves him breathless he knows that he can’t share her with his other two partners and must handle her himself. Terra Desmarais lives in a trailer park where she is called a witch. Her best buddy is Jim a man only Terra bothers with because of his meanness.
Black and Silver are not happy about Green keeping his newest artists to himself and she is amazing and begins to sell immediately. She is introduced to drugs and constant parties leaving her little time to sleep and paint. She meets Cedric Fleck a pastel artist who Black has taken under his wing. Black uses drugs and sex to keep Cedric in line.
So many artists fall under the spell of the three men until the men have drained their talent and then throw them away. Dana Glonciel was one of those artists, popular and now just another empty shell.
I consider this novella a horror story but will not explain why, I will just say that you will understand when you get to the end of the story what I mean. Art, drugs and sex which I also attributed to world of music, but it exists in all areas of the artistic world.
