If not for the beautiful bear I just met, I might be cursed forever.

Twinkle is a snarky elf with more attitude than brains. When he tests Santa’s patience one too many times, Santa turns him into an elf figurine and banishes him from the North Pole. Much to his annoyance, he is packaged and mailed to a stranger’s address. From there, he must shift into human form to find his fated mate by Christmas or become an elf figurine forever.

Monty is a bear shifter who prefers to live away from his family and pack. When a package appears on his doorstep on Christmas morning, he opens it to discover a cute elf statue. He can find no return address, and sets the elf on his coffee table. When he next looks, a handsome man with pointed ears is sitting where the statue was.

The man says his name is Twinkle, and he begins to tell Monty a ridiculous story about a real North Pole and a Santa who doesn’t understand him.

Monty is not sure he can trust Twinkle, but something about the elf draws him in as he listens to his silly stories of multiple Santas, elves, flying reindeer, hidden Christmas villages, and more. And when Twinkle begins to go into heat, Monty feels his own rut begin to surface. Can he believe Twinkle’s tall tales? Whatever happens, this could turn out to be the best or the worst Christmas present ever.

This is such a wonderful, low angst romance with opposites attract, fated mates, forced proximity and a festive year-round feel.

Twinkle definitely comes across as a little bit of a brat to start with but is soon taught a lesson by Santa, being sent away from the North Pole, ending up on Monty’s doorstep. Monty is quite the grumpy bear, sure he will never meet his mate and happy to sleep the days away. Twinkle’s appearance brings about quite a few changes in Monty’s life, which is good to see as it’s not just him they affect but his whole family.

It’s quite fast paced when it comes to their mating and romance, though a lack of communication nearly hinders things for the couple. I enjoyed Twinkle’s growth as he moves from being a mischievous elf at the North Pole to a loving mate who is looking forward to the future as a family and surrounded by people who care about him.

There is a great cast of supporting characters, Monty’s mum being quite involved in all that goes on and full of excitement for it all. It’s sweet how all of Monty’s family are so welcoming to Twinkle, not something he’s ever really experienced, and it’s very special to him.

An easily enjoyable festive romance between a grumpy shifter and a sugar high elf. Opposites in nearly every way but they work so well together.

This is part of Santa’s Naughty Elf Mates, and I have not read any of the others but if they are like this one, I will be sure to catch up.

Twinkle works in Santa’s workshop and does everything he can to rile Santa up. He fed laxatives to the reindeer and just continued to do whatever came into his mind, only this time he went too far. Twinkle erased the nice list causing smoke to come out of Santa’s ears. Santa had enough and took all of Twinkle’s duties away from him in addition to baning him from the North Pole.

Monty LeClaire is a bear shifter who spends most of his time napping. He has a large family but remains mostly alone until a box is left on his doorstep. Inside the box is a statue that suddenly turns into a living elf. A letter inside addressed to Twinkle advises him that he sent him to his mate and if the mating bond is not completed, he would turn back into a statue for eternity.

Monty’s response to the box, the live elf and the letter is to take a nap. Twinkle also loses his pointy ears. With no knowledge of life outside of the North Pole Twinkle is lost but despite that he is a happy, fun now human that radiates joy. Monty is drawn to his supposed mate, and it is hard to stay grumpy with someone who just dances around singing.

Monty’s family embraces Twinkle happy that someone has brought some life into their grumpy brother and son. The more Twinkle is around Monty the more Monty is determined to give him everything he needs, which included a puppy. Every time Twinkle receives a gift his enthusiasm is without restraint.

Twinkle was such a delight and brought a smile to my face while he tried not to cause trouble and get himself once again sent away. He had so much to learn about life and Monty was happy to teach him. While Monty wanted to finish the mate bonding Twinkle was afraid and Monty was willing to let him set the pace.

I loved this book, and Twinkle and Monty were amazing characters as well as Monty’s family. This was a Christmas story that brought a smile to my face and kept me glued to the book till the end. No suspense, no violence, no secrets or surprises, just a happy romantic story.
