Time might not be as linear as you think.
Dr. Ben Arnold is still grieving the death of his wife, Roxanne, when he advertises for a nanny for his four-year-old daughter.
On Friday the 13th, Jessica James interviews for the position, but Ben won’t consider her because of his instant attraction to the young woman with a caring smile.
Luckily, the housekeeper knows how to nudge the rude widower in the right direction. Especially when Ben’s wife's identical twin shows up uninvited with a strange man in tow. Soon enough, Roxanne’s other two eccentric sisters also show up. They claim Roxanne isn’t dead and that they intend to bring her home.
The idea of being abandoned by his wife, whom he believed to have died, disturbs Ben, so he invites Jessica to stay until his daughter’s aunts leave. This is Jess’ opportunity to prove to the handsome, if grumpy, widower that she’s the perfect choice to care for his daughter, no matter how much he scowls.
Almost immediately, strange things start happening to Jess, the most disconcerting of which are the visions of a woman from a different time.
Meanwhile, an unknown force pushes Ben and Jess into each other’s arms, even though he isn’t ready to open his heart to another woman.
Unknown to them, Millicent has plans for Ben, and the nanny is in her way.

Jessica James went to her best friend who owns an employment agency hoping she can find her an interesting job. Luckily, her friend found her a job she thought she would be perfect for being a nanny for a four-year-old autistic girl. Her father Dr. Ben Arnold is a veterinarian and the only problem with her getting the job is his request for only older women, something Jess isn’t.
Arriving for the interview she was greeted by Dr. Arnold scowling at her shirtless and letting her know that she was not what he was looking for and she wasn’t welcome. It took a rainstorm and the housekeeper, Ethel, to at least get her welcome for dinner and when leaving the rainstorm hit heavy and the doctor’s dogs got into her car since she left the door open and destroyed all her possessions.
According to Ethel she expected Jess because she called for her. According to scary Ethel Jess would not leave and belonged with Ben and his little girl Amber, Ben doesn’t agree but things will change when Millicent his wife’s twin shows up. Roxanne was the love of Ben’s life, and she died in a car crash one year ago, Millicent is there with a psychic named Daemon to find where Roxanne is since Millicent insists, she is not dead.
Ben was right when he didn’t want a young woman because he can’t take his eyes off Jess, and she can’t take her eyes off him. She understands how he feels but still wants to get to know him better, much better. Being in Ben’s home is scary, Jess hears her bed talking to her, Ethel and her husband are frightening, and Millicent is a nightmare to be around. Not only is the house scary, but it is also Friday the 13th, and she keeps trying to convince herself that it doesn’t mean anything, it is just a date, but she can’t get the date out of her head.
All the time she spent with Ben he has still not offered her the job as his daughter’s nanny, and she will be leaving when the weekend is over. So many strange things happen but when three other people appear in the story with no idea who they are or what they have to do with the house or the people residing in it I really was confused.
Ben and Jess were wonderful characters, the other characters were scary but since this ends in a cliffhanger I won’t get any answers till hopefully the next book in the series.
