Stu Lawson had always lived in the small town of Occident. He’d been born a farmer, and he was more than happy to stay a farmer even when his dad decided it wasn’t the life for him. He’s been raising his daughter since the day she was born, and he’s never regretted being a single dad, but Stu has a few secrets.

Morgan Grant was born into a life he never wanted and had done everything he could to avoid. Staying drunk helps him forget and numbs the pain he can’t bring himself to face. After a long night of drinking, he ends up dumped in a small town north of Sacramento without money, his phone, or a way to get back to the city he calls home.

Stu’s focus has always been his daughter, but he can’t control his curiosity about the stranger who shows up in Occident alone in the middle of the night. He offers to help, even when he knows he shouldn’t. Old feelings rise to the surface and he’s helpless to ignore them, or Morgan. This stranger could be his chance at happiness, or his downfall. #singledad #gayromance #stranded #smalltownromance #secrets

Morgan Grant took his drinking to a new level, so drunk he accepted a ride with a man he didn’t know and ended stranded, no phone and no wallet, in the middle of nowhere. What would happen to him would change his life forever.

Stu Lawson is Andy’s brother and if you are familiar with this series, which hopefully you are, you know all about Andy and his family. Stu is a farmer and has been raising his little girl since her mother abandoned them both. As stu is working on his field he sees what he assumes is clothing laying in the field only the clothing is attached to a man.

Stu offered Morgan help even though he can barely stand and is no doubt hungover. Taking Morgan to his home he offers to take him to the bus to return to Sacramento but unfortunately, the bus is full, and another one won’t be available for a week. Stu offers Morgan a place to stay and work for the week and although having no knowledge of farming he eagerly agrees.

When Morgan meets the rest of the family, he is welcomed by everyone, especially Stu’s little girl, Mariah. Morgan discovers that the work is fun, and he is happy to be helping on the farm. His first pay he takes Stu out for dinner to repay him for all he has done. Morgan’s parents have never been loving and never cared where he was now, he found a family that has welcomed him and treated him better than his own parents ever did.

Morgan believes Stu is straight after all he was married and has a child but looks can be deceiving. With the week up Morgan decides to stay, and Stu is only too happy to have him. They work well together and begin to have feelings for each other, feelings Morgan never expected to have reciprocated by a man he thought was straight.

It is a learning experience for both men, Stu learns to take time to appreciate what he has instead of only working and Morgan learns what real family is all about. Both men confess secrets that they have held in for years and it just brings them closer. Mariah loves Morgan and he loves her making it easier when the two men share a bed together.

Such a beautiful love story about two men who deserve happiness. The story behind why Morgan was left stranded in the dirt was sad, but it did free him up from his past after he learned the whole story.

This was a wonderful series where country meets city and finds a HEA.
