An innocent trip to an online store to buy her three year old son a Christmas gift turns into a living nightmare for Cheryl. Mark, her poker obsessed husband has just cleaned out their entire savings account for a high stakes poker tournament three weeks before Christmas. On top of that he's decided to leave her and the son he never wanted because Cheryl "doesn't get him". Devastated, scared, and confused Cheryl must find a way to keep her struggling law practice alive and provide some kind of Christmas for Robbie.
Cheryl had her doubts about marrying Mark in the first place, and she should have listened to her instincts. Letting go of her first love, Kevin, was something she regretted even more now. At the time he wasn't good enough for her, or so her parents tried to convince her. When Kevin contacts her out of the blue right before Christmas, is Cheryl due a Christmas miracle? Can one innocent message on Facebook rewind the past?

Cheryl Powers dated Kevin Lawson for two years but she is on her way to Harvard Law and he has left school to travel to Africa as a photographer. With some influence by her family Cheryl decided that Kevin was not the right fit for her and she broke off with him breaking his heart in the process. As he left her apartment he said he would always love her.
In Harvard Cheryl met and married a fellow law student Mark Hastings and after graduation they started their own law practice and had a little boy Robbie. Robbie is now three years old and Christmas is just around the corner when Cheryl gets the shock of her life, Mark has emptied out their bank account for a chance at a huge poker game in Vegas. Not only did he take every penny she only learned about it when she went on line to buy some presents for their son. His parting words were he didn’t want her or their son and she didn’t know him, quite different from what Kevin said years ago.
Now with Christmas coming and bills due she has nothing but the $1,000 that Mark threw at her when he went out the door. How can she give her son the Christmas he deserves? How can she explain that Santa didn’t come this year? Alone, angry and broke she goes on her facebook account to catch up with friends and an instant message from none other than Kevin Lawson would be the Christmas gift she never saw coming.
I don’t want to say too much and give anything away but I will say I loved this story, a perfect story for the holidays.
