Have you ever had a crush? Have you ever had a crush so astronomically huge you were willing to tell the person anything to make them fall in love with you? If you’re Annalise Dresden, then the answer is yes. Yes you have. And you’re in way over your head.

Frankie is a young woman with low self-esteem and works at Big Lots. She lives with her brother Ronnie who she looks after due to his depression. One day the alarms went off and she saw a woman walking out of the store with merchandise Frankie was sure she hadn’t paid for, but she was taken by the woman’s good looks. Frankie has never hidden the fact that she was gay, but she knew that a woman with her looks would never want a woman like her.

Leece aka Annalise went to Big Lots to buy some things and when she saw Frankie she felt that she was in love. Leece kept returning to the store to see the woman who she can’t get out of her mind but has not even asked for her phone number. Leece is a woman with problems, severe headaches and an alcoholic. The alcohol helps with the headaches, but she drinks all the time with or without headaches.

Leece finally meets up with Frankie at a club where her brother Ronnie is performing with his band, and she asks her out. Frankie can’t believe a woman like Leece wants to date her and is surprised by how much they have in common. Whatever Frankie loves Leece loves even though Leece doesn’t know half of what she is talking about. She wants Frankie to love her and is willing to do whatever she has needs to in order to make that happen even if it means lying.

Frankie and Leece both have problems but find an understanding and a love that they both share. The sex is wonderful between them, and they try to see each other as much as possible. Frankie realizes that Leece has a drinking problem, the same problem her father had and caused his death, but she loves Leece too much to walk away.

Frankie is the one who supports her brother and when her manager tries to sexually assault her, she manages to get away from him. She worries her job is in jeopardy and doesn’t report him which just leaves him able to do it to someone else working at the store, and he does.

I don’t want to give anything away but there are so many surprises, lies, betrayal and secrets that I was shocked by some of them. When Frankie and Leece broke up it was heartbreaking, she was so in love with Leece, she never saw it coming. Leece learns about her past and the doctor and professor, Beth who saved her, or did she.
