Just wanna say that I’m a pretty easy feller to please…I like a good, action-packed lgbtq+ romance, and while this book had both (male-male romance & action!), the relationship and the action didn’t hold my excitement (or attention) like I’d hoped it would. The writing is good, the narrator’s voice is clear, and while the story wasn’t anything new or ground-breaking, it was simple and easy to follow – no plot holes or convoluted storytelling, just straightforward and concise writing.
If you like beefy, hot, over-the-top men running away from explosions and having sex in dark rooms, this book might be a good fit for you! There’s plenty of sexual tension and longing, lots of self-denial to add to the tension.
There were a few things that I didn’t enjoy and most of them could’ve been solved by adding a sensitivity reader. The language toward/portrayal of drug users and sex workers wasn’t The Greatest, and a simple Google search could’ve helped alleviate this problem. Just a thought going forward.
