Renowned artist Devon Morton is always on the go, traversing exotic planets for Universal Geographic. Capturing mesmerizing images and videos of the awe-inspiring wonders on each planet, Devon seems oblivious to the lurking dangers that come with uncharted territories. Consequently, he's always shadowed by a bodyguard.

Strangely, he's run through three bodyguards in just two years–a bizarre track record, considering none of them was severely harmed. Devon's exasperation is building up: What if Merx Security runs out of bodyguards?

Enter Julian Neilsson, a seasoned mercenary, and Devon's potential fourth bodyguard. Rightfully skeptical, Julian ponders one question: Is guarding a young, absorbed vid-pix artist that arduous? He soon discovers that it's not just Devon's art that captures his attention but the young man himself, potentially sparking an unexpected romance.

If only Julian can resist the urge to strangle the oblivious artist first…

Devon Morton is a prized vid-pix artist who has just had his fifth bodyguard quit. Devon is known for losing sight of anything but what he is taking pictures of to the detriment of his own safety. One bodyguard after another is unwilling to protect a man who doesn’t try to protect himself leaving them feeling useless.
A new bodyguard from Merx Security is assigned, Sergeant Julian Neilsson who is aware of the fact that no bodyguard stays long, and that Devon gets himself into life-threatening situations. Julian is determined to protect Devon in spite of himself and won’t allow him to do anything without proper attire and the ability to protect himself.
Julian begins training Devon building up his physical condition and his ability to handle a gun. Devon is not a happy camper and after doing five sit-ups begs for death. Each planet that they visit where Devon is responsible for taking vid-pix proves dangerous keeping Julian on his toes. An ice planet where Devon is oblivious to ice cracking. Julian manages to pull Devon away before the entire cliff he was standing on collapses.
Every time Julian tries to force Devon to use protection is a fight. A desert planet called Inferno is so hot it is deadly and despite Julian insisting Devon wear proper glasses he refuses until he burns his eyes. Born with only the use of one eye Devon’s insistence about the glasses could have left him blind.
While Julian fights to protect Devon he begins to have feelings for him which is against the rules, so he keeps his feelings locked up inside himself. Devon has also got feelings for his bodyguard, but Julian let him know that it was something that would never happen. Every planet they visit brings danger to Devon who leaps ahead without thinking of the danger.
Before long Julian and Devon’s feelings for each other get stronger and Julian wonders if he should give up his position as his bodyguard. There is no doubt that another merc will not be willing to undertake protection for a man known to take unnecessary risks because his attention is on what he is filming instead of the dangers around him.
Every time I finish a series by C.J. Dragon I anxiously await a new one coming out and this is it. I am not usually a fan of sci-fi but every series I have read by C.J. Dragon has been a joy to read and leaves me waiting for a new one. I can’t recommend this book and all the C.J. Dragon’s series highly enough.
Julian and Devon face danger on every planet they visit some injuries occur to Devon and some to Julian. Their relationship poses a danger, every planet even those considered harmless prove to be dangerous so it left me wondering what would happen to the two men at the end, well I won’t reveal what happens only that I read this book in one sitting and can’t wait for more.
