Truth can be ugly and part-time waitress, casual PI investigator, and half-fae shifter, Raven Crawford, can’t deny she owes the Lord of War a favour. If she defaults on her debt, she relinquishes all her power to a man who doesn’t know the meaning of mercy. And she thought her bank loans were bad. With her new role in the Underworld contending with her debt to a dictator, a budding romance with the Lord of Shadows, and her need to pay the bills, Raven is in serious need of balance. But the moment the dark fae walked into her diner months ago, she’s been off-balance.It’s time for Raven to pull up her big girl socks and prove to everyone she’s no longer the burnt-out waitress with a nifty parlour trick. She’s the Queen of Corvids.

If you have read the first two books in this series then you are well acquainted with Raven, her family, and her lover, if you haven’t read the first two books I strongly recommend doing so since this is a series that needs to be read in order.

Raven is dealing with a lot, her huge debts, trying to deal with the death of Lloth the Corvid Queen and accepting her role as the new queen, a deal she made with the Lord of War, Bane, for sparing her brother’s life, her best friend Megan joining the Closers who are determined to put an end to all Others and her growing relationship with Cole, the Lord of Shadows and working at the diner and her family’s PI business.

With everything she is going through she is still determined to be independent and that is something Cole has had to deal with since his instincts where she is concerned are to protect at all costs but he is respecting her wishes. Unfortunately, with everything she has to deal with she also has to deal with those determined to see her dead and they prove over and over again that they are stronger than her. Raven has a lot to learn.

Cole wants Raven to learn about the castle that now belongs to her and he takes her to a door that only the Queen of Corvids can open and open it she does. What she finds is quite a surprise and not one I will share.

A book filled with amazing characters, mortal and Other, secrets, romance, and suspense. Raven is an amazing hero who despite her shortcomings is determined to be independent and Cole, what can I say about Cole other than I want a Lord of Shadows of my own lol. This is a must read series for anyone who loves a great paranormal romance filled with characters good and evil.
