Tory McKidd has given up her career as an attorney to find the monster that left her brother butchered six months ago. Tory has finally given up on expecting the law to solve her brother’s murder especially since the killer was arrested and then released. Every night she searches the park knowing that is where she will find the killer, Simon Chavez a werewolf like her, but a werewolf that bites humans turning them and keeping them in the dark to feed his energy. He kills not just humans but werewolves as well just like he killed her brother who if the moon was full when he was killed would have had a fighting chance but not against a werewolf mob.
Adam Scott is a police officer who while chasing a gang-banger who just robbed a store saw Tory and when their eyes met he was hooked. He had no idea that they had imprinted and he would not be able to get her out of his mind. Tory knew that for Adam’s sake she had to stay away from him but that would not be easy since she knew he was her life partner. Adam had no idea why he was so possessed with finding the beautiful redhead he saw in the park since he was not aware of werewolves and what an imprinting is.
Adam keeps searching for Tory and she keeps hiding from him until he comes knocking on her door to interview her about the death of her brother. It doesn’t take more than a few minutes before they are ripping each other’s clothes off and now Tory knows that staying away from him is impossible. Unfortunately Tory has the gift of sight and when she sees Adam’s death she goes running to the park with a deep need to kill Chavez before he kills Adam.
How can Tory have a relationship with Adam when he has no idea what she is and how can she protect him without revealing the truth about the killer and his pack. The relationship between Adam and Tory is growing but will he live to spend a life with her and if she can protect him will it be by giving her life for his. There are some very suspenseful moments in this book that kept me at the edge of my seat, will Adam live, will Tory live or will the monster known as Simon Chavez win.
