Have I had Riven on my Kindle since last year? Hmm it’s not like I didn’t want to read it, but due sometimes to the life of a review chair for a book guild, there are certain books I need to read now,,,,,,and some I want time to treasure. Roan Parish you are one of those treasures
I must admit to this author, her choice of characters, topics and story is my perfect read. In the Middle of Somewhere Series was my beginning, then The Remaking of Corbin Wales was a delight. So Riven, Rend and Raze are now at my fingertips for a few weeks of reading enjoyment. I was so excited and of course the first one Riven did not disappoint.
This author does not allow me to speed read, her writing talent wants me to hear, feel and enjoy the depth of her characters and the feelings they evoke in themselves, enhancing what the reader feels.
We are presented with our main characters each having a story to share and we are there for the ride. Theo Decker is the lead singer of a famous rock band. How he got there was…. he was filling an open slot. Like most of his life he did what he was told and went with the flow, but he hated the image and hated the notoriety. He just loved the music.
Caleb Blake Whitman was on his third or fourth or fifth rehab release, wanting to not sink back into the drug world that surrounded him in the music world. Losing his career, he is afraid of every decision he makes will let him slip. Every thought he has he questions ….being an icon in the musical business that he lost , but not losing his love for music.
