DALE

I thought losing my cub two years ago was the end of the road for me. I’d cease to find anyone else to love and play with again, and certainly nobody else to protect since I should have been at home when he was killed. Why my protective powers hadn’t been stripped away like an old coat of paint past its prime was beyond me. Then I saw Macon Ford lying on my emergency room table as pure as the driven snow, despite being with friends unworthy of his association. My senses detected his naïveté needed a Papa Bear’s influence. Learning more about Macon that night only served to prove I was right in more ways than one. So apparently my world hadn’t stopped turning. Now I just needed to convince Macon to move to Lake Bruin so I could keep him safe. Would my attraction to his innocence and my longing to be the daddy he needed spark a major shift in his life?

MACON

I’m always the stupid guy doing dumb things to win people’s approval. But that Fourth of July took the cake when I wound up in the emergency room on a cross-country road trip with a group of kids from school. They hadn’t brought me along for my benefit, rather for their entertainment. And after they stranded me at the hospital, Dr. Wright insisted upon taking care of me, tending to my healing and putting me first for a change. Our first night was more of a free therapy session, and Dr. Wright suggested I start putting my own interests before anyone else’s. Then he offered me the chance to move to Colorado. I was being kicked out of my own home so what did I have to lose? We immediately became close, leaving me to realize how much I’d been deprived of a fatherly influence. Dr. Wright charmed me and made me feel like I mattered. Then I moved in with Daddy Dale—and when my safety was called into question—he was closer than ever. That’s when I learned of his desire to build me up from nothing and he became my endgame.

**Safe Keeping is a medium-low angst, sweet and steamy Daddy/Boy story with ZERO age play element.**

As a review chair I am always looking for new authors to welcome to our site. Indie authors have always been our forte, helping them as that is our mission.

So July 4th weekend, scrolling on FB I noticed a book cover from an author. The cover caught my eye and off to Amazon I went and it was a KU book. I in all my 80 years of reading Paranormal had Never read a Daddy book, let alone in a shifter genre. So Jack Harper… you are my first!

For those who are as in the dark as I was I will explain. Daddy books are large age gaps between couples. Both are certainly of age, and the Daddy takes over the well being of his younger lover. Where have I been????? Safe Keeping is certainly apropos name for this Jack Harper book.

Meeting Dr. Dale Wright working in the hospital emergency room, we learn he lost his ‘cub’ two years ago. Hmmm Boyfriend/Mate/ Cub? He is called into see a patient and this is how he meets Macon Ford a little worse for wear from a fireworks accident. The people Macon was traveling with dumped him at the hospital and left. Dale’s heart went out to Macon and slowly took him in to care for the young man’s wounds.

Macon was living with his father who had remarried. He missed his mother, and having only one more year of college kept him under their roof. Home life was awful and Dr. Dale could see how adorably shy he was. Slowly thru Doctor Dale’s kindness and caring had a great effect on Macon and they began a relationship.

Jack Harper’s story entertained me for two days…..Picking up my kindle any time I could take an hour. The story was adorable with Macon being the worlds biggest worry wart and the Doc being the Dad; calming him at every turn. I must say this genre was an eye opener to me, loved the premise, loved the Doc being born in the dark ages as Macon googled all this information. There will be a book 2……so there’s that.
