This was my first introduction to both this author and to the Fada Shifters and they are now one of my favorites. Although I did not read the first three books in the series, which I will be doing, I did not have any trouble following the story.
Jace Jones is a Baltimore Fada Earth Shifter and his animal is a jaguar. Jace lost his parents and his sister during the Darktime a clan war that was sparked by his uncle Leron whose desire to become the Baltimore Alpha led him and his pack to trouble. It was a few years before Jace actually learned that his niece Merry was still alive and had been adopted by another Fada pack. Merry’s dad was half fae and although her birth was kept secret it was finally discovered and both her parents were killed.
Jace’s gift is his ability to use quartz and he is presently working on a new smartphone. His visit to the mine led him to a bar out of his area and led him to being attacked by a night fae. The night fae are powerful and Tyrus the prince is determined to capture or kill Jace and then Merry who is the granddaughter of the king. Unfortunately Jace didn’t do very well when he was attacked and was stabbed with an iron knife which is poison to both the fae and the fada shifters.
Wounded and dying Jace found himself on the doorsteps of a house that belonged to Evie Morningstar. Evie lives with her sixteen year old brother and is raising him since the death of their mother. Her first instinct is to get this man away but when she realizes he is hurt she brings him into her home and cares for him until help comes. When Adric the new alpha and Jace’s best friend arrives to bring him home he makes a discovery that involves Evie, she is more than she knows.
Jace knows that he has brought danger to Evie and her brother and she is brought back to baltimore for her protection until the danger is over. Tyrus is being helped by Corban Savonett who is betraying not only the Baltimore pack but all fada shifters. Until he is caught he will stop at nothing to get to Evie and her brother in order to get Jace.
The relationship between Jace and Evie does not start out well but I will not go into why. Of course when Jace realizes that she is his mate all the walls he put up are taken down. I loved this book and the shifters are quite unique from the shifter books I have read before, there are ice fada, water fada, earth fada and more. I highly recommend this series if you are a shifter fan. There is sex and suspense and everything you could hope for in a shifter book. I can’t wait for more.
