Natasha Sokolov is a jaguar shifter and an ex-Nero assassin. Natasha has been stalking a Supreme Court Judge she suspects has taken the mutated shifter drug giving him heightened senses and shifter strength without shifting. She has been told that the judge intends to reveal shifters to the world and she will need the help of the Sedona Wolf Pack. Natasha was responsible for the kidnapping of the Alpha’s wife making them enemies now with a common goal to stop the humans from discovering that the monsters they read about are living with them.
When she approaches Asher, the alpha with her plans to kill the judge, she is turned away but one man is willing to help. Dex Stuart who just turned forty and is convinced that he will never find his one true mate decides to help since he doesn’t see a HEA for himself. Before Natasha and Dex get a chance to make plans she is arrested for stalking the judge ensuring that she will shift behind bars for the whole world to witness.
When Asher finds out about Natasha’s arrest, he agrees that they have to break her out and since Dex and his twin Deacon own a construction company they plan to use explosives. The escape plan doesn’t go off without a hitch but I will not reveal what happens but I will reveal that when Dex touches Natasha he realizes that his enemy is his one true mate, fate sure can be a bitch.
Well enemy or not she is his one true mate and that overrides everything else his sole purpose is to protect her and to try to keep her with him. She is a wanted fugitive, his mate, the pack’s enemy and the one person they need to stop the judge from revealing their existence and his one chance at the HEA he thought he would never have. Natasha can’t stop thinking of herself as an assassin and can’t picture herself doing anything else. Her entire existence consisted of being told what to do and living in a cage, a cage without bars but still a cage so how can she suddenly become a different person than Dex deserves.
If you haven’t started this series yet then I urge you to do so especially if shifters, romance, sex and suspense are your thing. I have read each and every book and never was disappointed or bored. The only thing I faced was the fact that I would have to wait for more. Like all the other books in the series I read this one in one sitting too good to put down and my husband could very well miss a meal or two lol.
