Imagine being kidnapped and transported back in time to a 16th century French castle.
Danielle deForet, a beautiful rare antiques dealer, is tricked into completing an appraisal on a rare French piece, when to her surprise its owner casts a spell sending them both back to 1559. Danielle learns she is the crucial link for a royal spell and finds herself guarded by a handsome knight, Aidan. They soon fall in love, and he plans a risky escape.
Georgina, once a seer, now a mannequin in Danielle’s shop, was turned to wood by that same wizard. Her body stilled, her mind sharp, she is the lovers’ only hope to escape. If she intervenes, and the wizard finds out, he will stop at nothing to make his spell succeed, even if it means destroying Georgina, Danielle, and Aidan.

Danielle deForet is a rare antigues dealer with her own antique store in Florida but when a man named Alasdair comes into the shop with a 14th century daggar once belonging to a powerful wizard she knows that her commission on the sale of this daggar will set her up for the year. When Alasdair returns for his appraisal he touches Danielle and she finds herself in France in 1559. It seems that the powerful wizard is none other than Alasdair himself.
All her life growing up Danielle’s grandmother would tell her stories about her lineage and that they came from royalty, stories that Danielle dismissed as fairytales until she comes face to face with Queen Katherine of Chenonceau who has a huge resemblance to Danielle. Katherine is determined to regain her youth and it is up to Alasdair to perform a transformation giving the queen Danielle’s youth while Danielle would cease to exist.
With everything going on, centuries in the past, a queen determined to take her life Danielle never expected to fall in love with a guard responsible for her. Aidan follows orders, he is a trusted guard and considered a hero but that all changes when he meets and falls in love with Danielle. Being together is a death sentence for Aidan since Danielle knows her fate already but they are determined to escape.
Aidan contacts an underground organization who helps innocently accused people to escape and they come up with a plan to save Aidan and Danielle. Going from town to town and being helped by people concerned for their welfare they finally begin to feel safe, but we are talking about a powerful wizard and they never had a chance. The only one that can save them is a wooden gypsy in a fortune telling machine that Danielle has tried to sell for years.
Georgina was a victim of Alasdair for refusing his proposal and for four hundred years she has been a wooden gypsy in a fortune telling machine that can only say three words “Georgina doesn’t lie”. Can a wooden gypsy save Aidan and Danielle as well as herself, well that is something I will not reveal.
This was a wonderful story about love and magic.
