Is he real or is he a ghost?

Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn't expect to receive a note and a kiss from a handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.

Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna - and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart's life before the Midsummer Ball.

Eighteen year old Loran Randolph has found a summer job at Harrison Hall in Virginia where Revolutionary War reenactors provide tours. When she first enterred the home she had a feeling that she belonged but even stranger was when she heard music and saw dancers from the Eighteenth Century. She also saw a man Hart Harrison who took her breath away and he apparently felt the same about her but unfortunately it all disappeared and she had to believe in ghosts or that she was dreaming while awake.

More and more she begins to feel that she is somehow attached to the mansion and to the gorgeous man she saw, but how was that possible. When Hart once again seems to appear in her time she knows that he means the world to her and when she discovers that they were once engaged she knows that is all true. Unfortunately she died from illness and not long after he died in a duel, a duel with a man that should never have bested him.

Loran and Hart go back and forth through time and she is now determined to keep him alive and stop the duel that killed him from ever happening. History states that people believed Theo the winner of the duel cheated and she has to change history but at what cost. Other’s from the past are brought to the future and for some reason Loran is convinced the house is responsible for everything that is going on.

Hundreds of years have gone by and the house has brought Loran and Hart back together, even through time and death so she can’t believe the ending to their story will be separation once again. Why would they be back together only to be torn apart again. Fortunately Hart doesn’t seem too overcome by being in 2017 where the very idea of indoor plumbing is beyond belief for someone from the Eighteenth Century but for them to be together they would have to live in Loran’s time if she can stop his death.

A beautiful story of a love that infused a house so that when Loran enterred after hundreds of years the house managed to join them once again. There are many wonderful characters in this book but it would take too long to introduce them all so I highly recommend reading this book to learn all about them.
