Nicki Reading is the Marketing Specialist in a record company. She travels for business, organizes events and parties, promotes new records and flies from one relationship into the next. At first, I considered Nicki a free spirit, doing what she wants, going out with whom she likes and being independent and strong. I figured, she is, what we all secretly would like to be. But then I realized,there is much more about Nicki. The beautiful woman keeps many secrets. I also discovered, Nicki is not only a hard worker in the company and an amazing girlfriend, but she is as well part of the ‘Sworn Sisters.’ That’s a group of women which formed in High School and has four members: Sam, Denise, Alyssa,and Nicki.
Dex Hanover is a bookkeeper. He’s great looking, sensitive, caring, supportive and a phenomenal lover. When I got this information about him, I smiled a little. Isn’t he the man most women dream of? Dex is the man he seems to be; reliable, straightforward, honest and very much in love with Nicki.
Dex and Nicki meet on a cruise while spending a few free days with other dates. They find out they both live and work in Philadelphia. From the first few minutes,the tension between them is almost shocking, and it is clear to them: after their cruise, their relationship will just begin.
Nicki feels that with Dex her private life could change for the better. When their love story takes off, she wants to keep it slow and give it a chance to develop. But Dex has other plans. To him, she is the one, and he wants her to commit. Nicki is the woman he wants to take the next step in getting married and having children. Unfortunately, Nicki has other ideas. Commitment scares her to death,and she pushes Dex away.
At the same time, the lives of her Sworn Sisters are changing. While suffering from losing Dex Nicki still tries to do her best and help her friends with their strokes of fate.
While reading the book, more details unveiled why Nicki didn’t want to commit to Dex and what made her turn away from a life with him. There is still the chance they can get back together. Will Nicki take it?
‘Sworn to Forget’ is a very nice piece of entertainment. I enjoyed reading the book and meeting Nicki and Dex. It was as well a pleasure to be introduced to Denise, Sam,and Alyssa. Each character added to the storyline. At times I found the story a bit predictable, but it’s a humorously written and occasionally emotional book. Since ‘Sworn to Forget’ is part of a series I’m curious to know more about the other women in the group.
