Chloe owns a bookstore and coffee shop thanks to her grandmother and is part of a lynx pack. When Mix, a Firebrand and part mountain lion and part wolf comes into her store looking for a gift for a three-year-old little girl he doesn’t fail to see a very shy lynx afraid to look him in the eye and trying to get someone else to take care of him.

Everything changes when a shifter comes into the store and grabs Chloe trying to take her with him. As a Firebrand Mix could not stand by while Chloe was being abused and got her away for a man claiming her father sent to be her mate. The only safe place for her was at the Firebrand stronghold and she was willing to stay for her own protection knowing her father and her intended mate would not give up.

Chloe is a virgin and has decided that she wants Mix to take her virginity so if she winds up mated to the abusive shifter her father picked for her, she will have memories of being with someone kind. Mix is more than happy to give her what she wants. After being with Mix and having been happily satisfied, her lynx knew that he was her true mate.

Of course, Chloe’s dad did not give up and he arranged to kidnap her and force her to mate with the shifter of his choice. Chloe fought and denounced the pack and even if she didn’t win, she would not just give in. Chloe watched as her mother was broken, losing all self-worth and she was not going to let that happen to her.

What happens between Chloe and Mix is not for me to say but for you to find out for yourself. It is a short story but held my attention from beginning to end as I am sure it will for you. A story of overcoming abuse and fighting the good fight.
