Sera is the last runner from Earth, bringing badly needed supplies to the Tharassas Colony across a twenty-five year gulf between the planets. Jas works on a hencha farm to make ends meet, harvesting berries from the semi-sentient plants.
Neither one that knows their lives—and worlds—are about to change forever.

I love sci-fi movies and TV shows and when it comes to sci-fi books not so much unless one comes across like this one and changes my mind.
This is a short story and if you read the description and some reviews then you know it is about two women both lesbians and yet there is absolutely no sex in this book and just a passing mention that they both like women.
Jas lives on a colony of Earth called Tharassas where she works on a hencha plantation picking berries. The plants are semi-sentient and Jas always feels that they are talking to her something everyone labels crazy. Her mother is dying and when word gets out about runners coming from Earth bringing medicine and all kinds of items not available on Tharassas Jas knows that there will be a market day and she is determined to take her mother there to find medicine for her.
While Jas and her mom are happily on their way to participate in market day the last runner from Earth piloted by Sera is having trouble with her starship. Sera has spent twenty-five years in suspension along with her partner and wife Tavi only Tavi’s sleep pod was damaged and she is dead. This is the last ship that will come from Earth because Earth is no more.
Sera and Jas come together when Sera’s ship crash lands. Unfortunately the welcome wagon is not very welcoming but that is a story you will have to read for yourself. The only thing I will say is that “hate” is alive and well even twenty-five years from Earth.
