Once again Charlie finds herself in the middle of a mystery and it all started with an innocent lunch date. So often her tea seems to be the magnet for trouble this time it was a man and a bottle of beer. A man spilled his beer all over his papers and of course, Charlie couldn’t help herself and went over to assist. She would have no way of knowing what this simply act of kindness would lead to, although from experienceshe should have.

Ichabod Krane (Ike) grew up in Sleepy Hollow, New York and it is evident that his parents had a very bizarre sense of humor when they named him. What they thought was funny made Ike the center of attention and not in a good way. He is a ghost hunter and Redemption; Wisconsin is known to have more than itsshare of haunted houses. Charlie’s home is the most famous and considered the most haunted but as much as Ike begs to investigate her home she refuses.

Charlie is totally unaware of the strange occurrences, strange even for Redemption, that are going on, Jack-o-Lanterns being left in yards and the sound of a horse galloping down the road. Ike is convinced that he is being haunted by the Headless Horseman since every town he visits the same things happens. He is writing a book about his investigations and asks Charlie for help, which she is more than happy to offer. Then one day Ike looks out the window and runs as if he is on fire and disappears. Officer Brandon Wyle is anxious to speak with him, but he is nowhere to be found.

One mystery after another, Ike’s ex-girlfriend Kat shows up looking for him, then an investigative reporter from Sleepy Hollow comes also in search of Ike. David is a journalist looking for evidence that Ike killed Kat’s ex-fiancé and his aunt hoping that Charlie will wear a tape recorder and get his confession. Redemption now has more crazies than usual, and the hits keep coming. Another death and Charlie is the main suspect, this time her good deed could land her in more trouble than ever.

I must admit that I was stumped as to the person or persons responsible for all the craziness that has visited Redemption in this book but what a fun ride finding all the answers. I can’t wait for more of this series, a series of fast moving, interesting mysteries filled with interesting characters. If you love cozy mysteries than run, don’t walk to get your first copy of book one.
