A toddler who loves heights. A stranger with a secret. A priceless magic gem. Violet Newell is in for a wild, romantic adventure - just as soon as she finds the diaper bag.

Violet Newell is a tea-drinking, opera-loving, single foster parent. After thirty years of looking after the children of San Gregorio Bay, she’s pretty sure she can handle anything that comes her way - including her current charge, a little boy with emerald green eyes and a penchant for climbing tall furniture.

Then two strangers break into her home, and a gorgeous man with shimmering eyes arrives to protect her and her foster child. He’s handsome, strong, great with kids - oh, and he’s a dragon.

An Opal dragon Lieutenant, to be specific. A dragon who can take the shape of her dream man. A dragon who needs her help exposing a dangerous plot.

The foster parent trainings didn’t cover any of this.

A forbidden mate. A faceless villain. An impossible oath. It’s the toughest mission the Opal Lieutenant has ever faced - and it could be his last.

Opal dragon Cardor Avonwether has dedicated his life to serving as a Lieutenant of The Silver Scale, a military operation made up of dragon shifters sworn to protect San Gregorio Bay. That means upholding a solemn Oath, including a vow to never reveal the truth about dragon shifters to humans.

There’s just one problem: his true mate is a human.

And not just any human. She’s currently caring for the son of the Emerald General, who was sent away to the human world for his own protection. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect her and uncover whoever’s behind the threats to the child, but it might cost him everything.

The Opal Dragon Lieutenant is the first book in the Jewel Dragons series set in the world of San Gregorio Bay, where badass dragon shifters and mature heroines meet their mates in romantic adventures.

Violet Newell is 64, short, plump and has been fostering children for almost thirty years. She has finally taken a night for herself by going to the opera. A relaxing night until she is called home by the babysitter having a difficult time controlling the one-year-old she is fostering. Violet usually fostered older children, and this is the first time she has had a baby, a very rambunctious baby who loves to climb and is now hanging on to the shower rod. Emery is a handful and only Violet can calm him down.

Finally getting Emery in his crib to sleep she is ready to relax until she hears her front door being broken down. Two men charge into the house yelling for the baby, is she shocked, no, she insists that if they are related to the baby, they must get permission from the foster care system to see him. Then a third man comes but fortunately he is there to fight the other two men and he is successful. Again, when he insists that the baby should go with him, she advises him that he needs permission. She is nothing if not insistent and takes her job very seriously.

Cardor Avonwether is a lieutenant of the Silver Scale Dragon Shifters sworn to protect San Gregorio Bay and those who live there. He is on night watch when his dragon alerts him to trouble, and he sees Violet’s house being attacked. He soon realizes that the baby the two rogue dragons are after is the son of General Malachi and is the heir to the Emerald clan. Sent to live in the human world after his mother was killed and there was fear for his safety. Cardor can’t get Violet to agree to let him take Emery, forcing him to break his oath to never reveal the existence of dragons but revealing himself to her. Once again Violet is not scared but fascinated especially when Cardor states he will fly them to his home.

Violet has a lot to learn about places she has visited without ever expecting they were where dragons resided. She also has no idea that the real reason Cardor’s dragon warned him of trouble involving an important person, was not the baby but Violet who is his mate. Revealing the existence of dragons to a human puts Cardor at risk of losing his position and being exiled but Violet takes preference over anything else.

So, a 64-year-old, short, plump woman finds love with a handsome man, and nobody deserves It more than Violet who has given love to so many over the years. The search for the traitor determined to kidnap the baby will place Violet in danger and there is non stop action. Looking forward to more from this series.
