This is the last book in the series and the last time I will get to enjoy a beautiful romance between two amazing and unique characters. This is Indigo and Roark’s story.
Indigo is a witch, the reader of the River Am and the finder of lost items. When she finds a naked man walking in her river, she is both furious and somewhat enamored. She doesn’t hesitate to confront him and doesn’t mince words about how angry she is at his being in the river that is for her only. The tall, gorgeous and totally naked man is Roark, a Raven shifter and a man with secrets. He is attracted to Indigo or as he calls her Indy but rather than pursue his feelings he flies off.
When a meeting of the Scion Firebrands is held Indigo relates the tale of the man named Roark when she is informed, he is a traitor and a soldier for Arisen Dawn answering to Cerberus. Cerberus has been fighting the Firebrands through all four books determined to rule all three worlds, Earth, Darque and Scath.
While the Firebrands search for Blood Coven descendants Cerberus is also finding them, they are how he hopes to succeed in his aim for total control. The one hold out is Miller Nash a descendant who refused to accept the help the Firebrands offered him deciding to go it alone. He has been very lucky, but his luck has run out and he finds himself a prisoner of Cerberus. With an implant in his head that will track him and with a push of a button kill him he accepts Cerberus’s offer to spy on the Firebrands.
Roark becomes another pawn when he returns Miller to safety and asks to join in the fight against Cerberus, the perfect way for him to join the good guys, if that is what he is doing. It is very difficult to know when he is being truthful and if he really is spying on Cerberus and not the Firebrands. Now he can see Indy and work on breaking down her resistance to his proposition for sex. She refuses to give in but as a shifter her scent gives her away.
Roark is given a directive from Cerberus to find the Blood Sword and return it to him, while at the same time promising to return it to Scath. This search puts him in closer proximity to Indy since who else would he hire than the finder of lost item. This is her job, and she readily accepts the promise of a huge payoff. Even for Indigo the search proves difficult, who owned the sword, is it real and where to begin looking.
Then Indigo overhears a conversation with Roark and Arisen Dawn promising to bring them the sword as soon as it is found and finally obeying the order to kill Indigo which he claims he is more than happy to do. Indigo can’t get out of the hotel fast enough after confronting Roark for being a traitor and a liar. This is the point when she will learn some of Roark’s secrets, secrets few are privy to.
The long fight between good and evil culminates with this book, and it was amazing. Indigo and Roark are not the only ones to find romance and each time a Blood Coven descendant finds their other half it is filled with sex, romance and a HEA. As for Indigo and Roark their union would be rejected by the One Creator and would result in separating them for eternity, well that is the part where I say, true or not, for you to find out.
Secrets, lies, betrayals, romance, sex, violence and a battle between good and evil and surprises.
