Once upon a time in La-La-Land... When theme park princesses start vanishing, a free-spirited P.I. goes undercover and finds her prince - a cautious ex-military spy who'd rather be left alone.

Fired from her job, Allie Kincade has a house in escrow, an eviction notice from her landlord, and nothing in the bank. So when she’s offered an insanely large paycheck to dress up as a princess and find three women who’ve gone missing from their jobs as costume characters at GrimmLand, she jumps at the chance. But the park isn’t all it seems: Deep in the SoCal desert, it’s owned by the king of an obscure European country, and the attractions are based on the Grimm brothers’ goriest folktales. Plus, Allie’s new boss clearly wishes she’d never been hired.

As head of GrimmLand security, buttoned-down Matt Wilcox is convinced the princesses - all out-of-work actresses - simply found better gigs and "forgot" to quit. But he owes his life to King Roland, and he can’t retire and pursue his own dreams until the women are found. Then the king’s adult daughter - a real princess - also goes missing, and Matt must work with Allie to uncover the truth. Will their fairy-tale ending be a happy one…or more Grimm?

Allie Kincade is a Private Investigator and expects to be made partner soon until she overhears a conversation in the men’s room between her boss and another agent. The conversation consisted of her not being made partner leaving her with an old beat-up car, overdue rent on her apartment and her being in escrow for a new house. Making things even worse she storms into her boss’s office in a fit of anger threatening to quit only he fires her first.
In the office with her boss are two men, two men she could never have expected would change her life. As she was ready to get into her car the older man approached her offering her a job at GrimmLand, a theme park where three princesses have disappeared. With a check for twenty-five thousand dollars and another twenty-five after she solves the mystery, she finds herself with enough money to see her dream of owning her own home a reality.
The theme park is owned by Roland, kind of Luradel a small country. He built it for his daughter Laurette who loves fairy tales and to keep her safe. The park is based on tales from the Grimm Brothers, so it definitely is not filled with sweet characters like Mickey and Minnie.
Matt Wilcox the Chief of Security for GrimmLand is to escort her to the park, and he is not a happy camper. Her car is a deathtrap, doors falling off, a radio that you can’t shut that plays loud until it just stops. Allie’s answer to the loud music is simple, earplugs. Tarek the manager of the park and the one who hired her is convinced she will be able to do the job dressed as one of the characters giving her free reign of the park.
She is given a room at the hotel and Matt is training her to act as a princess. She meets the other princesses the real princess and a preteen, Philippa with serious problems. Her father is transcending into a woman and is busy with his operation, her only real friend is Matt and Laurette.
While trying to find clues more of the princesses disappear and ending with the real princess also disappearing.
While working together Matt begins to have feelings for Allie and she for him but a relationship is out of the question because once her house is hers, she will be returning home. Unfortunately, someone has other ideas which could end a relationship for an entire different reason, death.
So much happens between Matt and Allie while the danger level spikes with a missing princess and blood in her room, bombs, guns and knives. Secrets and surprises and a very horny chief of security.
This was a heartbreaking story about kids who find themselves homeless and alone. There is violence, rape and a wonderful man who wants to help others like himself. Voids are treated with anger and hate with a belief they are monsters. I didn’t expect to love this book and yet every time I decided to put it down for a while I just had to keep picking it back up, so I read it in one sitting.
