Another wonderful addition to this series where small-town boys find their other half. City meets country once again when Sam Braun, owner of a bookshop, meets Erik Thorne, a country boy born and raised in the small town of Occident.

Sam’s bookstore is next to the hair salon that Andy works at and one morning Andy notices that Sam looks sad and questions him about what was wrong. Sam’s boyfriend decided to end their relationship on New Year’s Eve leaving him alone and tired of the dating scene.
Andy invites him to spend the weekend with him and his family and he decides to accept. He knows Link from all the times he visits Andy, but the rest of the family is unknown to him.

Once again, the first stop when reaching town is the bar where Sam sees a man that lights a fire in him. One of Andy’s friends Erik Thorne is also drawn to Sam only Erik is known to be straight. When Erik invites him to spend the next day with him driving around to visit interesting places, which are far, and few Sam is thrilled.

The day they spend together is wonderful and Erik doesn’t hesitate to reveal his attraction to Sam. Sam was sure Erik was straight, in fact Erik was sure he was straight till he saw Sam. Things went from good to bad when Erik took Sam out to lunch at one of his favorite places. People couldn’t stop staring and Erik panicked and asked for their food to go.

Erik’s actions convinced Sam that it would not work out for them, Erik is not out and embarrassed to even be seen having lunch with another man leaving Sam convinced that he would only be heartbroken if he continued to try to have a relationship with Erik he so desperately wanted.

A call from Erik asking to meet Sam in the city was a surprise but one Sam was only too happy to agree to. It was on Erik’s visit that he became a different person, relaxed, affectionate and revealing his feelings. Unfortunately, this was the city but what would happen when they were together in the small-town Erik called home.

A wonderful love story about a man who discovers what he really wants and is willing to fight for it and a man hesitant to give his heart for fear it will be broken.

It was fun to catch up with Link and Andy whose love just keeps growing while Erik and Sam want the same, but Sam is leery.

This series can be read alone but why miss out on a visit to a small town and learn what living in one is all about, not to mention romance.
