It appears that everyone is enjoying a moment of peace, Valadon is enjoying getting to know his son who he was told died at birth and was raised by his enemy Vivienna and Miranda and Remare are now married for a week. Miranda was sent to London by the museum to authenticate a painting and Remare is not a happy groom with his wife gone but Miranda is enjoying sightseeing with her bodyguard and best friend Orion.
Unfortunately, the peace doesn’t last long because enemies new and old are plotting. Miranda’s powers as an Elemental have drawn the attention of Lord Acton, the vampire responsible for years of torture against Remare and who is determined to own Miranda. Miranda is enjoying her time with Orion and researching books at the Herkimer Library that specializes in 17th Century or older books. Miranda is hoping to find information on Elementals but so far, she is having no luck.
Missing Miranda Remare surprises her and assists her in her research since some books are in Latin and he can read them for her. A stupid move puts Miranda’s Elemental powers to the attention of a woman in a café. When a bag falls on the floor Miranda decides to take the easy way to retrieve it by using her power. The woman who notices her is another Elemental and she introduces Miranda to an Elemental Coven filled with women capable to of powers that Miranda was unaware of.
For the first time Miranda feels she is with people like her and where she belongs, but if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Some of the women are not who they seem, and some have powers that Miranda realizes she can perform, I.e., astral projecting. Remare or one of his men are always nearby but as fast as they are she manages to be hurt.
The time Miranda spent with Remare was very romantic and proved that their love is one that would last forever, prompting Miranda to give Remare an answer in one year’s time about becoming a vampire. Miranda’s research leads her to discoveries about her family, her powers and who and where she belongs. It is amazing that Ms. Marik can surprise me repeatedly and each book gets better and better.
There are so many surprises and secrets revealed that I found it impossible to put the book down. Fortunately, since I started this series all the books have been published and now, I will just pick up the next book and look forward to more surprises.
