Orion is one lucky werewolf. He’s handsome, sexy; his career is soaring, and he has more financial security than he’s ever known traveling the world performing his music. He loves the stage, and his fans adore him. Life is good. He should be ecstatic. But he’s not. Loneliness grates. The one thing he doesn’t have is the acceptance of the love of his life, his best friend, Bastien.

Bastien Valadon is an Elite vampire operative who thrives on the adventurous and dangerous life of a Torian. That is until he realizes the charming and seductive werewolf, Orion, makes him feel more alive than any mission he’s ever completed. Long ago, he gave up his title and status as a vampire aristocrat to serve High Lord Valadon in New York. There was only one stipulation: He has to produce an heir. Now he must choose where his loyalty truly lies - with his lineage or with the one he loves.

Orion’s star is rising, and he has realized his dream of singing at Royal Albert Hall in London but the dream that is still evading him is the one where Bastien (Bas) an elite Torian soldier will be willing to take the next step in taking their relationship from friend to lovers. The heat between the two is fierce but Bas worries that Orion would lose half his fans if it was revealed he had a male lover.

Well, Bas tried but his desire for Orion became too much to ignore and Orion’s second dream has come true. They are enjoying time together in Paris until they must travel to visit Bas’s family, something Orion is not thrilled about. Bas’s father treats Orion with kindness but mommy dearest doesn’t even try to hide her distaste for him and her hatred for werewolves. As if Bas’s mom isn’t bad enough to deal with his sister from Hell Isabelle comes and she doesn’t hide her hatred for Orion or her brother.

Isabelle has plans for Orion which include hiring an assassin. Her plans to destroy Orion will also cause extreme anguish for Bas, a win win. Trying to make the best out of a bad situation Bas and Orion try to ignore the hatred and fcus on their love, easier said than done when the woman Bas once loved makes an appearance. The only person aside from Bas that gives Orion a sense of security is Bas’s childhood friend Jules who doesn’t hide his lust for Orion.

Is a lasting relationship possible for a werewolf and a vampire, one will live forever, and one will age and die just one more reason Bas was afraid of allowing his feelings for Orion to grow fearing he will one day lose him and was pretty sure he would not survive it.

Amazing, six full novels, one novella and Ms. Marik is still able to surprise me, didn’t think it was possible, she proved me wrong. Surprises, secrets, violence, sex, amazing characters, well that covers everything I could want from a paranormal romance.
