Another wonderful visit to Malsum Pass and the wonderful shifters that reside there only this time there is a new and dangerous enemy, Fur Traders. Fur Traders prosper from the exploitation of shifters and it is not just humans but other shifters who make money off their own kinds pain. Villages are destroyed, children are kidnapped and trained to be soldiers or assassins and sold to the highest bidder and now the Fur Traders have decided that breeding female shifters and starting training on the children from birth was the way to go.
Constance Tully has lived her entire life in Malsum Pass and at the tender age of five her mother decided that her daughter should marry an alpha and Conner Pierce was the man she has set her sights on. It was Connie’s job to go after Conner but unfortunately all her efforts proved unsuccessful because Conner’s mate is a human and he never once gave Connie a thought. Connie never really wanted Conner but did what her mother wanted and when it was finally a dead issue she allowed herself to date Jacob Pierce, not an alpha but a beta and Connie’s mother decided he would do.
Jacob has loved Connie all her life and when she finally decided to date him he was beyond thrilled only the rest of the town and pack were not as happy about it as he was. The pack all knew that Jacob loved Connie and were convinced that she only went out with Jacob to get back at Conner. Connie began to question whether the town was right did she unconsciously date Jacob because she wanted to get back at Conner and unable to fight what everyone said she asked Jacob to stay away from her.
An invitation from her friend Victoria to attend her engagement part in New York finally gave Connie the opportunity to get away from Malsum Pass and all the negativity directed at her. Unfortunately her desire to get away from home would lead her right smack into the hands of the Fur Traders. Connie knew she was in trouble and in spite of her attempt to stay in her hotel room she was talked into making one trip to the lobby, a trip that would prove very costly for her.
I don’t want to give away too much, I don’t want to go into detail of what happens to Connie when she is taken or what happens between her and Jacob because that is something that you have to read for yourself. I will say that as before I love this series and look forward to more.
