Jackie Breton is five months pregnant with a leopard shifter child. She is running for her life and the life of her child. Jackie fell for a rich, handsome spotted leopard shifter who convinced her she was his mate. The truth of what he was really like was a rude awakening. She found herself at an illegal auction where any woman with shifter-mate potential was sold. She was sold to the alpha of a violent pack of leopard shifters who had every intention of taking her child and putting it up for auction and then using Jackie as a breeder.
When an opportunity finally presented itself for her to escape, she ran hoping to save herself and the baby. She has no idea what will happen to her child who is half human and half leopard. She loves her unborn child and will do whatever is necessary to protect it. At a stop on the road to buy food she is attacked by two coyote shifters, and she has no real power to stop them. She has some magic abilities, but not enough to overcome two huge male coyotes.
Trevor Hammond is at the same stop as Jackie. He knew immediately when he saw her, she was his true mate. When he heard her yell and saw her being attacked, he immediately changed into his bear and went on the attack. Hoping that after everything was finished, she would accept his help, all she was willing to do was accept his business card. As an independent trucker, he also has set up a cell phone connection in his truck to be able to keep in touch with customers. He hopes Jackie will reach out to him, which she does.
Jackie has an accident on the motorcycle and the only help she’s willing to accept is from Trevor. Despite her dislike for shifters, she totally trusts him. He wants to bring her to Kotoyeesinay, a small town in Wyoming. It’s a sanctuary founded by elves where he knows she and her baby will be safe. He hopes by the time they get there, she will accept he is her mate. Unfortunately, both Jackie and Trevor’ enemies are close behind, each wanting their pound of flesh. Roehm the leader of the leopard pack wants her back and Trevor’s fight with the two coyote shifters has come back to bite him in the ass.
The attraction between Jackie and Trevor was very quick and hot, but that is not unusual when it comes to shifter’s finding their mate. The story was wonderful, and I look forward to more.
