A festive short story with a different type of heat to it when Uri catches his home alight when trying candle making for the first time. His neighbor, Oscar, offers help and it’s a chance for them to grow closer.
Poor Uri! He has a lot of trouble with clumsiness, he has many examples to provide, this one though may be the worst, leaving his home inhabitable over the holiday season. His first Hanukkah alone since his divorce does not go the way he hopes but it definitely takes a turn up when the neighbor he’s been fancying since he moved in offers food and shelter. Oscar is really kind and wants to help however he can, but Uri struggles with confidence and putting himself on others which probably comes from his years of causing accidents and injuries to himself and others. Oscar takes it all in stride though and it makes for a heartwarming romance that is just getting started.
A good, quick festive read with both Hanukkah and Christmas decorations, two lonely men who get the chance to celebrate and be together.
