A magical bookshop holds the keys.

When Mason Chynoweth inherits an old house in small-town New Zealand, he hopes to discover what happened to his great-great uncle Lewis after he returned from the war in 1945. Mason’s first encounter with the property is thankfully reassuring—his sensitive psychic powers aren’t triggered and he has a calm sense of coming home.

Elijah Whitaker arrives in Kedgetown for an extended visit with his aunts. He’s quickly drawn to Mason and offers to help him try to find some answers in the dusty old house. It soon becomes clear that Mason is keeping secrets, but Elijah has a few secrets of his own. Like his closely guarded knowledge of the hidden supernatural world, and the fact that many of the townspeople are psi and supernaturals.

What is the connection between the house and Postscript, the town’s enigmatic bookshop? Mason’s glimpses of the past give some clues, but not enough to make sense of the puzzle.

When a hidden journal comes to light, the true story of Lewis’s journey is revealed, and his path and Mason and Elijah’s begin to intertwine.

Mason Chynoweth has inherited his great-great Uncle Lewis’ house and he is determined to find out about his uncle and why he was the one who inherited everything rather than his older sister Fiona. Mason has no idea how his visit to Kedgetown and the information he learns about his great-great uncle will affect his life and future.

He is staying at a B&B owned by Annalise Whitaker a woman quite familiar with his uncle and the home he has inherited but she refuses to explain anything. Her nephew Elijah has come for a visit and both men find themselves attracted to each other but they both have secrets that could impact any chance of a relationship. Kedgetown is a very unique place, home to supernaturals, humans, psi and secrets, lots of secrets.

Elijah offers to help Mason get the house ready and while cleaning they come upon a journal, only this journal is magical because only certain pages appear with words on them, and it appears to be his uncle’s story and the man that he loved Cyrus. Mason has no idea what happened to them, because it was a time when same sex couples were definitely not accepted. Mason also learns that the house was also a bookstore called Postscript. Neither Elijah or Mason is prepared for the history behind the store.

Mason is a psi and keeps his hands covered for fear of touch giving him visions, Elijah is a werewolf which is a deep, dark secret that could get him in trouble if it is discovered he revealed it to Mason. Mason has entered a world he was totally unaware of vampires, werewolves, psi, ghosts and a magical bookstore only open certain times of the year. His uncle was also a psi and apparently Cyrus was a vampire. The life span between the two was enormous which would be similar that Elijah and Mason could face.

While Mason and Elijah are coming to terms with what the store and house represent and what their role is, Mason gets insight into the trauma his uncle suffered during WWII. As a psi his uncle Lewis could see those that would die, and it was heartbreaking knowledge he had no control over.

This book was full of surprises, secrets, romance, sex with a past love and a new love. The characters were amazing, and I especially loved Elijah’s aunt’s wife, Rilla, who has quite an attitude. She prides herself on being a matchmaker and she had her eye on Elijah and Mason from the get-go. Can’t wait to see what secrets and surprises Kedgetown has in store in book two.
