When Fynn invented the 'CadoBox, he didn't think it would change his life. Make some money? Sure. Fund his own laboratory? Hell, yeah. But not get him almost kidnapped, and land him with a six-foot-six bodyguard shadowing his every move. Fynn doesn't handle changes well. Having Nolan looming over him has his nerves on edge and his motormouth running. If only the big man wasn't so damned hot.
Nolan's owned his security firm for five years. He's protected many clients. None of them dragged him into their lab and lectured him on avocado offgassing. And none of them seemed as oblivious of both their danger and their attractiveness as Fynn. Bodyguards shouldn't fall for their clients, but it's not "falling" to vow no one's getting near Fynn on his watch.
An opposites-attract, size-difference, bodyguard action romance with an ADHD scientist and the man determined to keep him safe.

This is my first, not my first-time reading Ms. Harper’s books but the first-time reading a book involving an avocado. When I first got the book, I couldn’t imagine how a book about a scientist and his invention that predicts when an avocado will be ripe could hold my attention well it did, and I highly recommend not letting the title stand in your way of reading this book because it was wonderful.
Fynn Dempsey invented the ‘CadoBox which helped people with a love of avocados and guacamole to know when the avocados are ready to eat. You put an avocado into the chamber, close the lid and in a mere thirty seconds it will tell you how close to ripe it is. Since I don’t like avocados and never bought one the idea is great and I would love one for watermelon, a fruit I never get right.
When Fynn was almost kidnapped his brother the President of their company, RipeBox hired a security company to watch over Fynn and ensure his safety. Fynn is the company’s greatest asset, it is his invention that made them millions and his safety ensures that he will be inventing more in the future. Nolan Stone’s company has been hired to watch Fynn twenty-four seven. Fynn is not happy about all the people that will be trailing behind him, but he gives in.
Fynn convinced himself that the attempted kidnapping was not real until he is told that the van that tried to crash into him held drugs and duct tape it was those two items that brought the reality too close for comfort. Nolan makes sure that Fynn is always covered and that he knows Fynn’s daily routine. It doesn’t take long before Fynn begins to feel safe but only when Nolan is there watching him and before long Nolan does something that is a total no-no he begins to care for his client and when one of his other agents is watching him, he feels uncomfortable.
Fynn is an absentminded scientist, he always leaves something important behind and must return to retrieve it, of course Nolan managed to find a way to ensure nothing is left behind without sounding like a parent reminding their child. Nolan is also the only one that listens to all the scientific rambling that Fynn rants about and seems interested.
Then a second kidnapping is averted and now more than ever it is evident that Fynn is in danger, and it is all hands-on deck. Nolan insists on covering the nights with Fynn despite sleeping on a small couch. Nolan trusts no one until they are cleared by his team and that includes Fynn’s brother Micah. Fynn is not Nolan’s type, but where did I read that before the main characters find themselves in bed.
This was a very interesting story, who knew that an invention revealing when an avocado would be ripe would lead to kidnapping. Fynn and Nolan are wonderful characters although they have feelings for each other, will it lead to a HEA.
