Ren Ikeda’s world is falling apart. War has broken out in the streets of Lucifer’s Landing, and his entire empire is being dismantled one explosion at a time. Unsure of his men’s allegiance, but desperately needing protection, he snatches up an opportunity when it lands in his lap. Hiring Mykel Finlay, his complete opposite in every way, has the markings of being disastrous. Realizing Mykel may be the only person he can trust, he clings to the man despite the danger to his heart.
Mykel Finlay doesn’t like bad guys. As ex-police and military, he prides himself on walking the line of good, not evil. When his brother gets in a bind with Ren Ikeda, the Japanese mob boss, he must put aside his moral compass and dive into the murky waters of the mafia. The only thing Mykel isn’t prepared for is falling in love and willingly drowning for Ren, a man he should hate.
With the help of some very unlikely allies, Ren and Mykel try staying alive long enough to take down their enemies and grab a happily ever after neither man thought they wanted. Will their salvation end up leading them down a path of destruction, or will they actually prevail?
This is book two in my Lucifer’s Landing series and is not a standalone. It is highly recommended you read book one: War of the Wicked first.

Ren Ikeda we met in the first book of this series, a friend of Dante Scavo head of the Italian Family on Lucifer’s Landing, while Ren being head of his family, There are 5 Cappo’s in town and their seems each is vying for top dog. Book #2 shows us we are still on shaky grounds. Ren is the Boss of the Japanese family They are still licking their wounds and he hasn’t replaced the losses to his family from the previous war. Being low in members, it has made him sweet pickings to be taken down.
The contractor who Ren hired to have his home repaired after ‘the war’ in book one has run into a problem. The electrician has skipped and the wiring set a fire damaging the house even more. The man is at Ren’s mercy, as he cannot afford to not get paid. He decides to flee and is saved when his brother stops to pay a visit. Mykel Finlay, his brother ex-police and military, prides himself on walking the line of good. Making a deal with Ren to be one of his protection since Ren is now doubting his own men’s allegiance to him is how they meet.
Ren and Mykel are two alpha males and the decisions and bickering are adorable as they plan to have Ren build a new support system, eventually involving asking Dante for his help. The two do wind up in bed yet this is not your regular romance. The feels are there but the war, the murders, the killing, shooting and blood and gore are upper most.
We go from one safe house to another, and I read this in one sitting….couldn’t put it down!!!
