Hear ye Hear ye (seemed appropriate for the period) if you are a fan of Robin Hood, the Merry Men of Sherwood Forest and shifters then this series is a must-read beginning with Tempting the Sheriff, Tempting the Outlaw and ending with Tempting the Maiden. This is John Little and Willa Scarlet’s story.
The story begins with something that has never happened before the men of Sherwood Forest are ready to steal a huge trunk filled with gold and jewels. The trunk is on the ground and John puts it back in the carriage sending the carriage and the treasure on its merry way. John recognized Willa as the human who saved him when as a bear, he was caught in a bear trap, so this was his way of paying back.
Willa was sent by her mistress to go through Sherwood Forest with the hope that the bandits would steal the treasure keeping it out of the hands of Prince John. Everything was going as planned till the big dumb oak refused to keep it. She whispered to him to take it, but it fell on deaf ears. Willa is an independent woman, strong willed, stubborn and never willing to accept help.
Arriving in Nottingham, Willa knew she had to get away but first she took as many jewels as possible and gold she could carry some of which her mistress revealed were spelled. Unfortunately, Sir Guy’s soldiers were right behind her so she would have to return for the items she stole another time now heading to Sherwood Forest to speak to Robin Hood was her priority. Dressed as a boy she once again came across the oak who refused to take the treasure.
John sees a young boy who refuses to leave when asked so John decides they should have a little contest with weapons of John’s choice and on a log over the water. John does take the boy down along with himself, but the boy can swim, and John can’t. John realizes that the woman who has been giving him nightmares is the one who saved him all while Robynne Hood sits back laughing. Robin Hood is a woman, a shifter and the leader of the Merry Men. Willa and Robynne are united in their feelings towards men, and they are not complimentary.
John’s bear was the one who realized that Willa was their mate, John refuses to accept it. The woman is impossible to deal with, won’t accept help and is always on guard ready for a fight. When they find themselves hiding at the Monastery with help from Friar Tuck, they let their guard down and begin to realize their feelings are stronger than they first wanted to admit. What happens when Willa discovers he is a shifter the beasts she hates. The first order of business is to find the treasure which the sheriff had hidden, as stubborn as ever Willa decides to go after the treasure herself and sends John back to Sherwood Forest which Robynne requested. Willa made the wrong choice and will be paying a heavy price for her decision, but I must admit while being locked in the stockade her actions are priceless. So many situations must be addressed for peace to finally come to Nottingham and the people so as I finish this review, I am anxiously looking forward to starting book 3 where hopefully all questions will be answered and all will be free.
Suspense, romance, sex, a take no prisoners woman who if you make the mistake of calling her little will feel her wrath. A bear shifter who if he hopes to have a future with the woman he has fallen in love with has to learn how to keep his foot out of his mouth.
