At twenty-four, she’s independent and loving it, the reason she avoids long-term boyfriends who might make demands or get serious.

Another wonderful edition to a series I have loved from book one. LilyAn Kerry works at the Rutledge Institute as the librarian. For those of you not familiar with this series or Rutledge Institution it is set in Jackson, Wyoming and is a boarding school for gifted teens. The only mental anomaly LilyAn has is the voice in her head she calls Caprice, a voice that on more than one occasion has gotten her in trouble.
The night of the World Security League’s charity carnival where she sat in a tent reluctantly acting as a fortune teller would be a night that would change her life. When a man entered her tent, she couldn’t deny he was handsome and had no trouble flirting. But when the carnival went dark and people began screaming her handsome visitor went running to help.
Etan Trahan is a special agent and is on R&R after being injured. Etan told LilyAn to stay put but unfortunately Clarice said different. Clarice insisted that LilyAn follow him in case he needed help which he did but her arrival just made a bad situation worse when he jumped in front of her to keep her from getting shot sending him to the hospital with bullet wounds meant for her. Just one more time listening to Clarice was not in her best interest.
Etan has just added some more scars to his already scarred up body but having met LilyAn and having her wanting to repay him by spending time with him made it all worthwhile. She would be entertaining him during his convalescence and he couldn’t have been happier, and neither could she. Caprice was very talkative during their time together and seemed to know what LilyAn was thinking and feeling and didn’t hesitate to say it out loud.
Things are going very well between LilyAn and Etan but in a few weeks, he would be returning to Kuwait so she didn’t see a future for them. Besides who believed in love at first sight, not her, so she thought.
Then trouble from Etan’s past comes knocking putting him and LilyAn in serious danger.
Like all the previous books in this series I read this one in one sitting and loved every minute of it. Suspense, romance, amazing characters everything I love in a book and more. My favorite character was a four-year-old named Mischa who brought a smile to my face, four going on twenty. When told by her mother she can’t tell adults what to do her answer was, sometimes you have to, who wouldn’t smile at that.
Each book in this series can be read alone but why would you want to do that when each one is amazing. If you haven’t started then begin with book one and begin enjoying.
