When I was given this book to review, I was at a slight disadvantage because I had not read the first two books. There is no doubt that I missed out on a lot of the history about the Kings and Eve but doing some research and with the author doing a great job of updating some of what I missed I was able to give an honest review and rate it based on what I read in this book.
Eve is the daughter of Aris; the Horseman of War and daddy dearest has no intention of allowing her to live. I was able to get a good idea of the relationships between Cassius, Knox, Dracon and Eve and whatever transpired between the four of them prior to this book. Eve was betrayed by Knox who regretted what he did and is desperate for Eve to forgive him. Of course, Eve is not about to allow him off the hook before making him suffer a little.
Eve is residing in King’s Tower where her three kings are prepared to protect her from her father doing everything necessary to ensure she lives, and Aris dies. I don’t know the full extent of the powers the three kings possess but the author made it clear that they are powerful, a demon, a shifter and a dragon and Eve’s powers are growing making her a powerful enemy.
The men seek help from an ancient vampire and a warlock with no success. The only way to truly destroy Aris is for Knox to get his Mortem Blade back, which unfortunately is now in Aris’s hands.
While preparing for the confrontation with Aris things heat up between the Kings and Eve and it leads to some very sexy scenes. I enjoyed this book, and I am sorry I didn’t read the first two but there was so much excitement and sex including a threesome that I really don’t feel I missed out on much.
