Forced to leave Earth earlier than planned, Jon returns to a Daran that is on the verge of civil war.
The threats to Jon escalate after news concerning his hybrid DNA is publicly released, bringing the conflict to the breaking point, his life held in the balance.
Knowing he will be on ‘house arrest’ again doesn’t soften its impact on Jon, and he chafes under his inability to help his life mate in any way.
The situation isn’t helped by Talin’s militant acceptance of his Warrior mentality, and his threats to Jon, even given for his safety, feel like betrayal.
Jon wants to return to Earth for his sister Emma’s wedding. He wants Talin to be the Daranii he’s bonded to, not the Warrior who commands him.
Will their relationship survive what Talin must do to protect him?
Can Jon accept the sacrifices made on his behalf without sacrificing himself?

Jon and Talin have returned to Daran and there is trouble ahead. Calal has confirmed that Jon does have Daranii DNA and whether Earth and Daran will accept that when the information is released is unknown. The Opposition Warriors led by Kalit are a direct danger to Jon and once again he finds himself in house arrest. Talin has reverted to his warrior self until such time as he feels Jon is safe.
Talin and Jon inform SentaiTidan about Jon’s DNA and hope when the news is released that it may bring Earth and Daran closer to peace despite the expected opposition from many. The plus to all the upheaval is that Jon once called the “Sacrifice” is now a citizen of Daran with all the protection afforded to all Daranii. He has one thing to do to cement his citizenship and that is to decide on a Daran name.
It wasn’t a surprise when some in Daran referred to Jon as a mongrel but surprisingly most were excited and welcoming. Jon’s sister Emma is getting married, and the hope is that Jon and Talin will be there and be part of the wedding party, well, Talin is not a fan but will do whatever makes the family happy. Their trip back to Earth depends on Talin finding and destroying Kalit and his followers.
When their home is attacked, and Jon is nearly killed Talin’s warrior self is in full control, and he goes on the hunt refusing to return till his job is done. Two of the guards are killed and it has sent Jon and Talin in a state of depression and only with their life-mate bond are they able to overcome. Jon is anxious to be able to return home and to once again be free to teach but a group of haters stands in his way.
Talin and Jon have a love that so many would envy. They never cease physically or verbally to express their feelings, which so many couples fail to do. They have come a long way since book one when their first meeting was prisoner and torturer, something that Jon has forgiven and Talin can’t forget. This book is filled with wonderful characters, secrets, surprises and violence but first and foremost it is filled with love.
Once again, I end my review with a request for the author to write fast and satisfy my desire for the next book, please.
