Five original stories about Valentine’s Day that are sure to please everyone who loves paranormal, witches, vampires, fae, shifters and more. I will review a few of the stories just to whet your appetite for more and I have no doubt you, like me, will be anxious to read them all.
LOVE CURSED: Leisl Leighton – 5*****Stars
A love cursed for 2,000 years by evil and with Valentine’s Day approaching a chance to end the curse and bring the soulmates together. For two thousand years Bastien has watched as the love of his long life was constantly reincarnated, forbidden from discussing the curse and forbidden from professing his love; he has been relegated to the Steven’s family as their familiar, cat by day and blind man by night.
Julianna Stevens is a witch who is allergic to magic, is the coven librarian and Bastien’s reincarnated love Lianna. Julianna is different from the other’s and Bastien is sure that she will be the one to discover how to end the curse that keeps them apart. Julianna only wants to find love and has no idea that the love of her life is Bastien who as far as she is concerned is her very best friend.
Bastien arranges for Julianna to find a journal that will lead her to Rome and hopefully to the HEA he has waited two thousand years for but it will be a journey filled with one obstacle after another. There is a lot more to this story than I am willing to discuss in this review since I have to leave some things for you to discover on your own but it is a beautiful love story that lasted for centuries.
Catnip: Samantha Marshall – 5*****Stars
If you are in need of a good laugh while reading a story about a dragon and a vampire then look no further because this is the one. Oaklyn Firecross is trying to find the perfect book boyfriend for Valentine’s Day and so far, has been unsuccessful but when she catches someone in her home who doesn’t belong there, she has no idea that this supposed thief would steal her heart.
Luxor Dragomir is a vampire just looking for a place to hide out when he falls through a trapdoor and comes face to face with a huge dragon. Oaklyn has him pinned and refers to him as Robberpants McGee only when she discovers he has cat’s ears she switches to calling him Kitty Burglar and Tabby Vampire. Lux is a day walking half breed on a mission to end a curse only he needs to cross the veil between Earth and the magical realm of Mu and requires the talisman his friend Danger was to bring. Unfortunately, the talisman is lost and another way has to be found, that other way would involve Oaklyn and a promise she made to never reveal her secret.
The trip to finding a way into Mu, breaking a curse and facing danger along the way is filled with one laugh moment after another. Oaklyn and Lux’s banter between each other is priceless and as Lux begins to have feelings for her, he is sure his ears, tail and other less than stellar physical attributes would definitely not be something Oaklyn would want. I loved this story and will definitely seek out other books by this author.
Filigree and Fate: Helen Howe – 5*****Stars
Lady Zhulija is a seelie fae artist who has been asked to make reception decorations for a notable unseelie family’s wedding. The joint queens have granted Zhulija safety to enter unseelie territory and meet with the Eribifax family who are preparing for the wedding of their daughter. Everything is going perfectly until some of the family’s footmen charge into the room accusing Zhulija of being a thief and begin to beat her. Zhulija is angry, hurt and refuses to do any further discussions about the wedding until Lord Dario comes to her rescue apologizing and begging forgiveness all of which fall on deaf ears because Zhulija is not going to give an inch.
Dario has realized that Zhulija is his true mate and he has his work cut out for him to get her to accept his apology. Fae law forbids him from revealing that they are true mates and he finally gets her to agree to make the decorations and to be her assistant. Well, if he thought he would be helpful he was totally wrong because every attempt to help turns into a disaster and only causes Zhulija to work twice as hard trying to correct the mistakes. In addition to having to prove himself to Zhulija he has to overcome the bigotry between the seelie and unseelie especially if they ever hope to be together.
Such a wonderful story with wonderful characters especially Zhulija who has a take no prisoner’s attitude. Another new author to me and one I intend to further explore.
There are two more stories for you to dive into and I know firsthand that you will enjoy each of them as much as I did.
Valentine’s Day the paranormal way.
