Carnival, canals, and cunning enemies… Do you dare enter Venice’s shifter side?

Ten years ago, lion shifter Tony Pelligrini was forced to flee Venice after being framed for a murder he didn’t commit. But now, a mysterious force is drawing him back. Is it the feeling of a ticking time bomb only he can defuse? Or is it the call of destiny, promising true love?

Wetlands ecologist Cara Alari would rather stand knee-deep in mud than dress up for a fancy ball. But in the course of one crazy, carnival night, a family she loves is imperiled, and she is unwittingly drawn into a dangerous world of power, politics, and royal intrigues.

Before Cara knows it, she’s putting her black belt to use as a bodyguard — and teaming up with a hunky lion shifter straight out of her dreams. The chemistry between them is off the charts, but there’s no time for amore. Somewhere in Venice, an enemy lurks, targeting the royal shifter elite. Because carnival masks can disguise faces and evil intentions, nothing is as it seems. All Cara can be sure of is that her heart — and a young woman’s life — are at risk.

Another wonderful book in a wonderful series and another visit to a place I have never been. Two lion shifters, Tony Pelligrini and Cara Alari will be brought together by destiny but their lives will not start out all sunshine and roses.

Tony left his home in Venice ten years ago when he was accused of murdering a Guardian but a sense of trouble has brought him back and trouble is exactly what he finds. Attending a ball with a full face mask he tries to keep a low profile but an attempted kidnapping will bring him face to face with the Guardians.

Cara Alari has been in Venice for four months and as a wetlands ecologist she is trying to find a way to keep Venice from sinking. Pressured by her landlady she attends a ball the very same one Tony is at and when they set eyes on each other they both know they are facing their other half.

Fioriana is a young girl who has been led to believe she is the Fire Maiden, but she knows that is not true. Although she has royal blood she could never be the Fire Maiden she is too innocent, sensitive and shy. Ten years ago, her father was murdered, and she and her family were able to escape. When Tony and Cara save her from being kidnapped and Tony is brought before the Guardians to pay for his crime of killing Fioriana’s father she recognizes her hero, the man that saved her and her family the night of her father’s death.

Finally, exonerated for a crime he never committed he and Cara take on the responsibility of guarding Fioriana a job Cara had previously when she was Fioriana’s au pair. Although not the real Fire Maiden she would be valuable to someone who desires power and her life is in danger.

Cara and Tony realize that they are mates, but Cara is not ready to give into her feelings despite her lioness shouting that he’s the one in her ear. Tony on the other hand has no doubt about Cara being his mate but, first and foremost, is protecting Fioriana. Tony calls for help and his Greek billionaire friend Theo a dragon shifter comes to his aid.

Danger, romance, betrayal, surprises and secrets and amazing characters, everything you could want in a paranormal romance is contained in this book and series. Greece is the next country I will get to learn about and I can’t wait to get Theo’s story.
