Two years after losing his husband, the last thing widower Rob Asher wants to do is go on a cruise-for-two by himself. But after some practical advice from his best friend, Rob realizes that his husband wouldn’t have wanted him to hide away from the world with only his grief for company. So despite some lingering doubts, Rob packs his bags for his cruise adventure and flies to Barcelona to board the Ocean Wanderer. Actor Ben Rockingham has just finished a whirlwind promotional tour around Europe and is looking forward to a week long cruise so he can relax and unwind. He’s felt alone for far too long and doesn’t foresee that changing anytime soon. But a chance encounter in a hotel bar has Ben feeling things he hasn’t contemplated for a very long time. He and Rob hit it off right away and Ben is both intrigued by and attracted to this conflicted man. Is it possible that Rob is the one who's been missing from Ben's life all these years, and can Ben help Rob move past his grief so they have a chance at a future together? They have one week aboard the Ocean Wanderer to find out and the stakes are high on the high seas.

Two years ago, Rob Asher lost his husband Alan and with pressure from his best friend Samantha he is taking the cruise that he and Alan had planned. Even after two years Rob’s grief is like it happened yesterday, but Sam convinced him not to feel guilty about the cruise, he deserves happiness and Alan would totally agree.
The one thing in his favor is that Sam will be joining him for most of the trip, so he won’t feel alone. At a bar he sees a man that is familiar, it is Ben Rockingham an actor touring Europe to promote his newest movie. He and Rob hit it off immediately and decided to spend time together. They will be on the same cruise ship for at least a week until Ben returns to Barcelona for his trip home and Rob returns to meet up with Sam.
Neither man expected to find someone that they feel comfortable with and want to spend all their time with, but fate and a romantic cruise played in their favor. At first both thought they wanted time to themselves but that thought was quickly rejected. Ben was married and has a twenty-seven-year-old-son, Kyle but he has been with men before. He calls himself demi-sexual, a person who needs to feel an emotional attachment with someone before sex. I learned something new.
While Ben and Rob spend all their time together Rob suffers from occasional guilt and feels he is betraying Alan. Luckily for him Sam has no problem making him face reality and doesn’t mince words which he is grateful for. The problem facing Ben and Rob is that they live on opposite sides of the country, Ben in LA and Rob in Massachusetts and their time before Ben returns home and Rob continues with Sam is getting close. How they will work out seeing each other when they both return to their lives is something they must work on.
This book was the author’s first and as firsts go it was a very sweet story about two men in their fifties finding love. My only criticism is that the book was too descriptive, I didn’t need to know every condiment Ben and Rob put on their hamburger or a description of furniture and restaurants. This was book one and I look forward to starting book two.
Love at first sight is real. I went on one date with my husband, and we were married for over sixty years. Two men who were living their lives alone have a chance for love and a someone to share their future with.
